Yes. Contact the VA. If you have a family member who served and was discharged honorably and wanted to be buried at sea they will help you with the arrangements and the ship coordination. The VA was a website at www.va.gov and on that site they have an 800 number you can call and talk to a live person about your questions. You will need to have the person's DD214 (separation papers) when you call or at least the person's SSN for now. Good luck.

Only during war time,
Our ships are so big now they probley have a
coroner and a place to keep the body till it
can be transferred to a norther ship headed back to there port of call.
