Pros to male dog being intact:
Able to Breed

Cons:
Hormonal
wandering
testicle cancer
unwanted litters
aggression
marking
injuries from fighting

Add em up see which is better for the dog. I'm sure I missed some from each list but you get the idea.

pleasantly worded question- which charm school did you attend? But yes, it is better to have the dog neutered. Better for the dogs health, better for his behavior, and easier to deal with in the house as he will be much less likely to run around marking all over the place, and much less likely to run away in search of female in heat- supposedly they can smell this up to a mile away.

it depends on what you want from your dog.

getting him neutered will make him calmer, less likely to dig or jump fences, but will also make it easier for him to gain weight. obviously no pups, and no worries about getting your neighbor's french poodle all knocked up and you having to foot the bill for any puppies.

keeping him as is means he'll remain high energy, but keep a good metabolism. also means if you ever want to have pups then it remains a possibility.

IMO, yes. Your dog won't wander looking for females in heat, lowering his risk of getting hit by cars and everything else the big bad world has to offer. He also won't get testicular cancer, STDs, and you won't be held responsible in case he "gets" a female whose owner isn't happy with the puppies.

Here's a simple answer: You are not your dog. Removing your dog's testicals will not imasculate you in any way. Have it done and take Spike to the bar to drink away his sorrows afterwards.
