I moved to Spain from the UK and I am due a tax repayment. The tax office has sent me a cheque but say I can only cash it at an English bank. Does anyone know whether you need to have an account there? (I closed my Barclays one) Do they charge you a lot of fees?
I am also not sure they´ve sent it to the right address :(

thanks :)

The bank in Spain will charge you to pay it in, as well as the foreign exchange charges. The Tax Offices bank will then charge them as well.
That is why they say you can only cash it at a UK bank.
I pay cheques from my UK bank into my French bank and both charge me about £10.

You should be able to pay it into a spanish bank if you have an account there, and there will be a fee for paying it in and currency conversion.

No idea how much it is in Spain, but in the UK its around £12.
