To get a "flat stomach" You need to be in the less than 15% body fat range, to get a "six-pack" you need to be in the less than 10% body fat range. The people on here that are saying that diet won't help have no idea what they are talking about, think about how are you going to lose fat if you are eating a high fat diet? The poster that wrote you can't spot lose is absolutely correct.
Anywho....................
What you need to do is cardio 5-6 times a week at an intense pace for 30-45 minutes, get the heart rate up and break a sweat, the best time to do this is first thing in the morning, but any time of day will have it's benefits. Also get your diet in check I would recommend the Lose Weight Diet program it's a free information site, you don't have to enter any information or anything, it has a Caloric Maintainance Calculator and explains how to use it. Best of luck to you, losing the belly is the hardest thing to do for weight loss, I know you can do it though.

I am a mother of two. Having two kids made my belly fatter. I am the same way you are, not wanting to lose my greatest asset (my rear). However, I cannot pick and chose which part on my body can I lose fat on and only. So, I do a whole body workout. Running/Walking (burning calories) is what I do most then I work hard on my Abs and my Butt. In that case, I will lose my body fat, tone up, have sexier Abs and bigger Rear, along with a healthy Diet. Diet alone or workout alone will not work. Both Exercising and Diet go hand-in-hand! Good Luck!

you cannot spot lose fat, it simply isn't possible, short of liposuction. You can exercise like crazy but all that will do is tone the muscles under the fat layer, it will not rid you of the fat. A diet to lose weight will lose the fat, but the fat will come off the entire body, not just one spot. So, if spot sculpting is what you want, liposuction is your only option.
