I've read in a book in the past that talked about relationship and dating. I can not remember what book i read it in but i know its in the bible, i just can't rememeber what book it was out of and where the verse was. But the general idea was:

Knowing two years to know someone before making any commintment issues.

Read the Bible a long time, don't remember that verse, if you want to know about the right person to marry then Pray about it, Ask Jesus to show you if this person is the right one, if you ask sincerely he will show if you are a saved born again Christian, if you are not saved of course then your prayers are not heard anyway. The only Prayer Jesus hears from an unbeliever is the sinners Prayer.

Nothing like that I can recall.
This is often the problem with writers...ideas are presented, Bible verses are slapped onto whatever they say to attempt to make it seem biblical, and the readers end up adding things in their minds to the Bible that are not really there.
There is no hard and fast rule concerning length of time. But the Bible does contain the wisdom (and God gives it) we need to make intelligent choices regarding issues in this life.
