There is this guy that I really like and we have gotten to know each other in the past week. And we were talking last night and he was telling me how glad he was he met me and that I give the best hugs and that he wants to hang out sometime. He KNOW'S that I like him I have told him twice because he asked me twice. So I naturally asked him if he liked me. His response:
"hmmm I don't think I can tell you."
and then I get another message from him with the subject "well dear" and it seems like he likes me. But his best friend is my ex- and the guy is having a fit about us being friends and calling me a slut and a bunch of crap. Why won't he tell me? and do you think he likes me?

Of course he likes you, but that does not mean the two of you will date. He is trying to respect the "guy code". You should not date your best friend's ex without his complete blessing if at all. So, he is having a conflict and will need to get through that for a relationship to have any chance.

If your ex and him are buddies, good luck with that one.

You can pretty much guarantee that your ex is telling him a mouth full about you and the type of person you were during your relationship etc.
Which would pretty much explain why this guy is saying "Hmmm I don't think I can tell you." whenever you ask him if he likes you back.
I'm sure your ex filled his head with some juicy and perhaps rauncy tales of when you two were together. So naturally this guy is going to believe your ex, because they're buddies...and plus that's just how some guys are.
I would be careful, this whole thing between you and this guy could very well be a set up. Meaning your ex might be telling him to say certain things to you, that way he can prove that what he's been telling him about you is true.

........watch yourself, you could be getting played and you might not even know it.

He's playing you and thinks he's being so cute. He wants those "best hugs" to go further. Since you've told him twice that you like him, he figures it's just a matter of time.

Sounds a bit strange, whats the problem with him, why is he calling you dear? and how old is he!
I'd move on if I were you, sounds like he's playing mind games and I'm telling you from experience you don't want to go there!
Sounds like HE IS I'm afraid.

it sounds like he does, but perhaps the whole best friend issue is keeping him from moving forward with the whole thing. i could understand his position. i wouldn't jeopardize a friendship with a close friend and dive into a relationship with one of their ex's if i knew it was going to piss them off.
