I wanted green bridesmaids dresses but my mum wouldn't let me said it was very unlucky. So I had pink instead just to keep the peace. I am not superstitious at all. Have what ever colour you want.

Unlucky colours don't exist only in the minds of those who think they are. I re-married two and a half years ago and my colour theme was green, cream and gold. Both my bridesmaids were in green dresses. The wedding went off without one little hitch and I have been happily married ever since! So go ahead and where green - it is a beautiful colour - a nature colour, which can be seen everywhere you look out of the window. How can that be unlucky? Enjoy your wedding.

Nope. It isn't unlucky really. Just don't wear black coz that is indeed unlucky. And refrain from wearing white coz on weddings, the bride is the only one who should wear white (this applies only to women)

I've never heard of this superstition before! I will do some research for you!
Apparently this superstition refers to the colour of the brides dress. A green dress is thought to be unlucky unless the bride is Irish. The old expression that a woman has a 'green gown' was used to imply promiscuity, the green staining being due to rolling in grassy fields.
I also found this info;
Green is also an unfortunate color because of its associations with fairies, and its wearing is also said to foretell a change into clothes of mourning. Green has been deemed so unlucky that in Lowland Scotland neither bride nor guests would consider wearing it to a wedding, no green was permitted in the decorations, and even green vegetables were banned from the bridal feast menu.
Here's an interesting rhyme:
Married in White, you have chosen right,
Married in Blue, your love will always be true,
Married in Pearl, you will live in a whirl,
Married in Brown, you will live in town,
Married in Red, you will wish yourself dead,
Married in Yellow, ashamed of your fellow,
Married in Green, ashamed to be seen,
Married in Pink, your spirit will sink,
Married in Grey, you will go far away,
Married in Black, you will wish yourself back.

No, where did you get such an idea? Many mother's outfits are flowery, which would have a fair amount of green in them. And when I was a bridesmaid for my sister, we wore beautiful flowing green gowns with a tartan sash - they were lovely! And no ill effects have befallen my sister in the years since!

Its just an old wives tale. I know people who have had a green-themed wedding. Don't let it worry you. Wear whatever you like.

why should it be unlucky? i mean there's alot of lovely greens out there right now....if you have red hair then green will look fantastic on you, i have red hair and it goes well with my hair colour...but it has to be the right colour green, go for it, the attention will be on the bride anyway....
