Go to the web site listed below and buy a few of books. Here are a couple of great ones if you are just starting to explore Islam:
"Approaching the Qur'an: The Early Revelations"- Michael Anthony Sells (includes a cd so you can hear surahs [chapters] of the Qur'an recited, very cool).
"The Essential Koran" -Thomas F. Cleary. This book is great as it gets you familiar with all of the major beliefs of Islam.
Happy reading!

You seek help from God Almighty with clean heart and mind.
Truth will certainly be revealed to you. Truth can't be spread by hate and misconceptions. But unfortunately our brothers and sisters doing this for the purpose best known to them. God forgive them who are doing it unknowingly. But Islam is spreading in spite of these hypocritical methods that Christians and others are using to stop it. From the "moon god" lies of Robert Morey to the almost daily distortions in the media, Islam is still spreading in the West. Actually, the fact that those who make a career out of attacking Islam, such as Christian missionaries, have to resort to lies and distortions when they discuss Islam is a good sign.
If Islam was just some ridiculous "Third World" religion with no appeal, they would not have to treat it this way. As a matter of fact, a great deal of the anti-Islamic literature that fills Christian bookstores (and the Internet) is not designed to convert Muslims, but to turn Westerners off to Islam. The people who write these lies are just trying to poison the minds of people so that they won't be receptive to the message of Islam when they hear it.
Their methods, however, are failing. In Europe especially, the Christian religion is in a severe state of stagnation and people are looking for truth elsewhere.
Many notable Westerners have embraced Islam, recently as well as in the past. One of the most interesting things about this is many (if not all) of these people could be called "Searchers for the Truth". By this I mean that they were the type of people who were spiritual, open-mined and read books on many subjects. They were not brainwashed simpletons who simply wanted to join an easy religion and the dominating culture of the time. They were people who knew a lot not only about religion, but about history, philosophy and other disciplines. Suffice it to say that the truth of Islam is out there, in spite of all the negative press that it gets today.
God bless you!!!!!

(May you walk on the right path)
You are free to browse the net but be careful. The fact is that there are more number of websites on the web against islam than for islam. Quite a few give wrong explainations too. Kindly, try buying books. They very cheap and good. Secondly, try reading the Quran with it's translation. That is the best thing for you to do. You will feel yourself to be very calm after you have done that. Kindly, if possible, keep in touch with me for all your doubts.
Thank you

The best, and in some sense, only way is to discover the teachings of the Prophet(s) themselves, as the other believers at best merely reflect these teachings.
Thus the Holy Quran....
The Christian and Jewish Bibles, are accepted as basically true, but altered, as well as writings from the other Prophets of the world, 24 of which a mentioned by name, or title, in the Holy Quran.
The future Prophets and Manifestations bring new understanding of the old teachings, in that way Christ taught about Moses, Muhammad taught about Christ, etc. Therefore a thorough cross reference is inherent when a faith is new in order to establish its validity in the minds of the followers of previous faith traditions.
The Baha'i Faith claims the Return/Appearance of the promised Ones, Mihdi and Messiah, mentioned in the Holy Quran, (know as Elijah and Jesus in Christendom), and the other world scriptures (the Buddha of Universal Brotherhood, 10th Manifestation of Lord Krishna etc.), have come and brought new teachings since Muhammad, The Seal of the Prophets, signaling the end of the "Age Prophesy" toward a united world, and beginning the "Age of Fulfillment" of the same world, manifestly united. E.G. the first telegraph was sent the day of, or the day after, depending on your calculations, of the start of the Baha'i Era in 1844.
These two messengers have supposedly come to bring "Unity" and "Justice" in unstoppable and progressive degrees. We are currently in 164 B.E., and a "fullness of time" [Kull'i'Shay] is 19*19 years, or 361 years, so perhaps within 200 years we will know "The Most Great Peace", currently were are under what's termed "The Lesser Peace" which is merely to keep us from destroying ourselves before we get to know each other as one people/race, one world nation, one faith, one language, the harmony between science and religion, equality of the sexes, universal health care and education, lack of dire poverty and excess wealth, etc. etc. etc.
That is the promise of the Baha'i faith, as prophesied in the Quran and Bible, which I could cite copiously, but I already gets thumbs down for a mere couple of pages, usually by people who don't read it, or reject it without consideration there is infinitely more detail, that I haven't said, or quoted, that all points to the same evident facts: the world is becoming united with much protest, and that is a cause for delaying the obvious desire for justice of being fulfilled globally.
This function can not be stopped, war itself is mere protest, that only serves to fan the flames of desire for justice. The more the world rages, the more the Baha'i principle of non-combat, willing to help any fallen one, considering all as friend, takes the stage of interests of a community in desperate need of this new Divine remedy.
Baha'i are not the least better than anyone else, but we do purport to have the exact remedy being taught to us in the same way that Muhammad, Christ, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Krishna, Abraham, etc etc. etc. taught their followers for their times and place.
I hope you don't find it stupid, but if you do, God willing, that will be good for you too, since any God worth considering is not prone to complain about what Itself has engendered in some way.
Blessings upon you, whether you be a witch, Muslim(ah), Christian, Jew(ess), or any other race or creed. God has given freedom so that you might have the greatest joy when God reveas truth to you, and no believer should barter this away in their preference for their own faith, and all, in truth, are one, only the appearances change, this is a world of appearances, but the Spirit is One, and indivisible.
God bless.

Asalamualaikum (Peace be with you)
If you wish to find out more about Islam I would suggest you talk to a leader at a mosque. They will be able to help you and answer any questions you may have. I will tell you the basics. There are 5 pillars of faith:
1) the first most important belief of a Muslim is:
"AÅ¡hadu an lÄ ilÄha illÄ-llÄh, wa aÅ¡hadu anna muhammadan rasÅ«lu-llÄh ~ I testify that there is no god (ilah) but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
2) Salaat ~ 5 daily prayers. Each prayer takes about 10 minutes. FAJR-morning prayer, ZUHUR-afternoon prayer, ASR-late afternoon prayer, MAGRIB-evening prayer, ISHA-night prayer.
3) Zakat ~ giving to charity, helping the poor and needy.
4) Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
5) Hajj ~ pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca. Every able-bodied Muslim is obliged to make the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in his or her lifetime.

While talking to followers of any religion will be of some use, I'd highly advise checking out independent sources of information. Followers will give you the "party line" and will rarely tell you about the cons of the religion.
