I've decided to try sewing a simple dress for an upcoming wedding im going to in april. My friend has specifically asked that I wear dress much to my dismay. Im a 35 year old woman with a fuller figure. I thought this style would hide the multitude of sins that have creeped up over the years (plus hide a pregnancy belly). I will be adding length to the dress to hide the scars on my legs. Opinions please.

I am 30, baby belly, hour glass figure with large boobs...and I find that every time I try a dress on like this with the large piece of straight fabric across the boobs it looks terrible. Uniboob is not good and it makes my arms look even fatter than they need to.

You definitely have the right idea with the Empire Waist -A Line dress style. I wear these all the time. Try something like the pattern below, or a wrap dress. These will give you some curves and the v-neck line and high waist will enhance what you have and hide some of the lumps and bumps.

The pattern is pretty, but not appropriate for a fuller figure. Unfortunately, that will just emphasize figure fullness, instead of hiding it.
Better to go with something with a dropped waist, or just a simple, flowing a-line style of dress.

I think it would be appropriate but if you are full figured and make it the right size for you, it might look like you're wearing a tent. I had this problem when my grandma made my prom dress in a similar style. In the end I looked like I was wearing a tent. Yes everything was covered up but it wasn't flattering. It depends on your body shape.

it can be but be careful as it could make you look preggers if you not happy in a dress see if you could wear a skirt and top as this couls be more flattering for you (is for me and i'm not small) if not and you go with a different dress think of something Alined as this will hide the hips
have a look at the links see if they help

I don't think that style would be flattering on a fuller figure, to be honest. I'm thinking of myself int hat dress, and I think it would make you look pregnant and heavier. That's a great style for someone very slim.

I think it is a very pretty dress. A higher waist is a good idea. I am not crazy about the color though, I like something a little more colorful for a spring wedding. Good luck!

As long as it is not white or cream, and you feel comfortable in it, go for it.
You may want to look at bringing a shawl also, as the wedding is in April, it may still be a little cool, depending on where you are at.
