Sex once a week after a year together?

The same old story - used to have sex 4 or 5 times a week with my boyfriend. Been together a year now and it's more like once. He is very tired from his shift work all the time but it makes everything feel a bit passionless and like he isn't turned on by me anymore - he's in his early thirties.

Sounds like he is just tired. Try talking to him about it and making special time for romance. Try things to spice your sex life up and possibly see a couples counselor. When a man is in his thirties, he is just getting warmed up. Maybe you guys need some variety, and set aside a special time just for you two. But don't just ignore the problem.

Also, don't talk to him about this in the bedroom or he might feel you are criticizing him. Don't make it sound like his fault but like something that you two need to do together.

You just answered your own question. He is tired, not that he doesn't find you attractive anymore. Its the natural way of things, lots of sex at first, then the natural slow down of it all as you both become more relaxed in the relationship. You can still cuddle and kiss, don't push for anymore, see if he responds. If he doesn't, its cos he is tired, not for any other reason. Your relationship isn't totally based on sex. Remember its the quality, not the quantity.

Your bloke is content! he's happy with his lot! and he most likely doesn't think that you are going without!. The hard shift work may be sapping his emotional and physical strength, Everyone is different so its not easy to compare how people react in such situations. In general though its quite normal in steady relationships for them to become sexually perfunctory, the trick is not to worry about it! and just enjoy what you can when you can. otherwise you'll be on a slippery slope to more fundamental relationship problems.
