I look different on practically every photo or video i look at. I have heard that cameras mirror images and can make people look fatter so dont show the true picture of how others actually see you. is there a way of seeing yourself as others actually see you in real life? a special camera or ive heard there is a trick with mirrors putting them at 90 degreess to each other but does this actually work? funny question but it is really peeing me off!

Wow, you really seem to have touched a nerve there with some people??!! Weird!
Seriously though, I've often wondered the same thing. I made a little film a few years ago where I interviewed this guy's family, workmates and friends one at a time and asked them to talk about him. I asked each one the same set of questions about him and then edited the whole thing together. It was amazing the different ways they all saw him: physically, his personality, his background, like he was several different people instead of one.
So why not try something similar photographically. Get together a load of photos of yourself, good and bad, and ask all your friends and family to pick out the ones that 'look the most like you' to them. Maybe then you'll get an average view of how you look to the general populous!!
Great question!! Now go back to staring at yourself in the mirror you vain sod!!?! :P

Jeez some nasty answers there. I wonder who has the issues. ..Anyways I think what you trying to say is that the camera does lie. It catches you at funny angles in a frozen image which is usally unflattering as supposed to flattering. Most people look slightly better in real life than they do in photos. Porfessional photographers have tricks they use to get the best photos and of course celebrity photos are digitally enhanced on a computer. Sometimes you can improve your own photos yourself by changing the lighting etc using a computer program like Adobe. Unfortunately I don't actually know of any lighting tricks or mirror tricks to improve the taking of a photograph. You could check out some websites that may give tips. To iterate another person's point I think a mirror (although obvious) is the only alternative to seeing yourself apart from in photography!
Looking at the answers on here it is no wonder who have reservations about how other people see you. Look at how judgemental they are. They don't even realise the hypocrisy of it. Saying "Oh yea ,don't be paranoid that people don't like you"... but yet being completely nasty on here judging you from one little question when they didnt even read the Q properly in the first place. ..they like to jump to bitchy conclusions.. duh idiots....

Wow i dont understand why people are so annoyed..
Asking a question like this, doesnt mean your vain at all.
Videos are usually better, unless your photogenic.
This always happens to me, when i look in the mirror and i look okay, then take a photo and it looks totally different. A
Ive always wondered if people see me the same way i do.
Get someone to take a couple of photos of you when you dont know, so your not posing or anything?

A very interesting question. Personally, I think that video gives a more faithful image of the real you, because in life we are not static as in a photo - plus the fact that the still camera often catches us with an unflattering expression! The mirror trick works quite well - you can see yourself in profile, for example.Try placing yourself in front of a large mirror, then looking into a small mirror held up to reflect different aspects of yourself. Even so, it is almost impossible to view oneself objectively, so all in all, I guess we should make the best of what we've got, smile and be friendly, and then try to forget about how we look!

A better and more useful question is why do you care?
Meditate, love yourself as you are, maybe thats the way to go.
Every single individual who looks at you(if they are looking) thinks and feels hundreds of thousands of things when they look and it has nothing to do with you. Its just thoughts they have. and you are you.

Why do you care so much about what other people thinks of you.
How you think of yourself is much more important.
I'm sure you are a decent person and that's what matters.
