I am going to Tasmania and an old friend (now dead) from that island once told me of a mountain side that looks like a skull's face - I have already tried the official tourist web sites - no joy.

Any one know of this - he did say it was not well known (but that was 50 years ago).

I have done a lot of internet searching (Yahoo not Google!) and I have read guides to Tasmania in the library all to no avail. My friend, a great hiker, did say this was a hidden treasure but I am hoping to find someone who has found it themselves.

Mount Rushmore is, of course, in North America so the wrong hemisphere twice!

Hi there, I lived in Tasmania for 21 years.... i lived in an area called Seven Mile Beach, if u walk around the western cove round to the point u will come accross MAN ROCK, this is the closest thing I can think of... I did a lot of rock climbing and adventuring and never saw anything else. This MAN ROCK looks like a face... you can only walk there and it is about 1km walk from the nearset road... have fun in Tas... M@

A skull was found at Mount Pygmy-possum in Tasmania many years ago, the only mountain I have ever heard of with a skulls face is Mount Rushmore in America.
