No, I do not. One year I was teaching a 10 year old girl who became pregnant when her father raped her. She carried the baby to term. He raped her Mother at the same time, so she now has a sister and a daughter the same age.

I also taught a 10 year old girl whose cousin raped her. She had the baby. She now has 5 other children, yet she is not even 25.

I am all for abortion in ANY case of rape.

Its fortunate that the statistics of this occurring are rare...only 1% of all abortions are performed are attributed to this reason..either rape or incest. As there are approximately 3700 abortions performed daily that means that only 37 or so are due to incest/rape - of those, the statistics state that most abortions performed on minors are 1.2% so out of 3700 only 44.4 abortions are done to girls under the general consent/pregnancy emancipation age of 15. So you take 37 out of 44.4 and give a conservative estimate that most of these young women got pregnant by other means of say half....then 20 or so young girls or so out of a population of literally thousands of girls born since 1992 all over the country...pregnancy by incest resulting in abortion doesn't happen very often. I couldn't find any statistics on how many births were due to incest from a family member but I did find that there are 8 abortions for every 10 live births for girls under 15.

I don't know if a girl should be forced to carry a child. I don't think force would be or should be used in such a case. However, I do believe that the girl in question having already faced severe traum and emotional fracture should have all her options laid out for her and to be lead to understand that abortion ain't no friggin' picnic either. An abortion due to incest may or may not be justified later in her mind and that might just add more guilt and a stumbling block toward healing than if she were to carry through term and deliver and then decide to raise the child or place the child up for adoption. The later would be a nobler solution...still it would be up the emotional and mental fortitude of the young girl. Those are just my own thoughts. This question has no easy solution no matter how you slice it. As a matter of fact..if you could get a hold of a copy..there is a book called Lime 5 that gives an explicit depiction of all forms of abortion and many case scenarios of what abortion does to the female. The younger the female the more dangerous it is. Even up to death. So...I dunno. Love in Christ, ~J~

Fireball - You don`t really mean that do you? That`s beyond being ignorant or stupid. That is outright disgusting - I can`t believe that you can say something like that and look at yourself in the mirror. Forcing a 13 year old kid that got raped to have a child is evil. Selfish reasons? What do you think she wanted to be raped? Put yourself in that situation "As a scared kid" and I bet you wouldn`t make such a smug remark.

No, she needs mature adults who will help her and support her to make a grown up and considered decision about how she chooses to use her body and her life.

She is too young to have to deal with the issues of continuing a pregnancy or not, but reality is forcing her to do so. She needs people who will help her make the best decision she can, without imposing their own agendas.

How society should deal with her father is important, but it is a separate issue.

As much as it will screw up the 13 year old, I don't think that rape or incest should be considering factors in the abortion question.

Personally I would still like to see the father's arms and legs burned off.

No I think that is barbaric to force a child to carry a fetus conceived by incest in a civilized culture. The 13 yr old should have a choice whether she wants to put herself through that or not.

I love this question, it is used day in and day out. How's this for an answer, first the man should be castrated, and either hung, or sentenced to life in a hard labor camp. Then offer the girl all the options. After this has been done since this scenario occurs less than 1/10 of 1% percent that comes to about 300 abortions a year, so the other 1,399,700 abortions a year can be banned since they are for no other reason than convience.

Do you think ALL of us should be FORCED to provide TAX dollars to Welfare Moms!

I don't.

Let them die by the wayside.

I am NOT A COMMUNIST, I'm a capitalist. I pay my own way through life. Everyone should. That's the American way.

If you don't like it, move to Cuba, North Vietnam or China.

See how they treat welfare moms!

I'll tell you EXACTLY how China does it. You work in the fields until delivery, then all the nearby women help for an hour or two and then you ALL go back to work, including the mom, with baby in a basket.

I like that system!

After being raped by her father (and presumably being placed in foster care,) is abortion really the big issue?

OMG!!! I wouldn't think someone should be forced to do that no matter who the father of the child was if the girl was raped. Who would do such a thing in the first place.. How horrible.. That would mean that girl would look at the child for the rest of her life and be reminded constantly how that child was concieved NOT GOOD!!
