My 2002 Ram 4.7 got 13-14mpg American when I got it.
Cold air intake gained 3 mpg
Dual flow-master cat back 4 mpg.
Teflon axle grease 2 mpg.
throttle body spacer and tornado 4 mpg.
slick 50 2 mpg.
electric fan, lose the clutch fan 3 mpg.
sparkrite plugs 2 mpg.
computer chip 6 mpg.

I now get 40 mpg imperial "driving hard"
382 HP
495 foot pounds of torque at 1200rpm .
I can't believe those stupid engineers at Dodge couldn't think of this. I've increased the efficiency of an internally combustion engine to 60%. It's been around 30% for the last 50 years. To think, I thought, these were all scams

Yeah... it's because of the size/weight of the truck and the V8 engine you have... easy does it!!! good luck getting closer to 15mpg... might want to add a free flowing perfomance exhaust system Cat and Muffler... also a performance cold air intake... i did these both and moved from 9~11 mpg to about 15~16mpg.

I have a 88 Silverado 5.0 V8 and only get about 16mpg and less if i drive hard!

sounds about right, I own the 05 Ford F-150 FX4 with the higher torque 5.4 engine and I'm getting 13 mpg
we both have power full engines that are pulling a heavy truck, you have more horsepower, but I have higher torque.

Not really you should get 17 in city and 22 in highway. You might have to check O2 sensor or go to dealer to check.

Yep that's normal. Welcome to the world of big engines and small fuel milage. Don't believe what the window sticker says. They are never accurate.
