One would assume Religious people, at least here, would give me the same goody-two-shoes response, soooo... without further adieu.

You are in a room. It is dark, but not pitch black. There are two doors. The door on the Right leads to doing the right thing. there is no reward for this, only the satisfation of doing the right thing. The door on the left however, leads to the fufillment of greed. Your inner desires will be fufilled, and immense money and power will be yours. By choosing this door, MANY people will die, though not people you care about.

Now, In all honesty, which door would you choose.

A rather boring so-called ethical conundrum. If you stop and actually look at the way the world works, you've just described what most people do anway.

Just because someone is an atheist that doesn't mean he/she is unethical.

I would say that atheists think life is more precious than any religious folk.

Why?

We believe that when we die we die and become worm food. The religious people may choose the left door. They get all of their worldly desires satisfied! People do die but go to Heaven because of the afterlife clause.

..and best of all, they're forgiven for their sins! It doesn't matter that MANY people have died! Jesus is LORD!

So...why would the atheists be more likely to choose an option that provides death to the innocents? We wouldn't because there is no afterlife and we don't want to die either.

// Obviously I'd choose the right (and ethically correct) door.

I would take the right side. You dont have to be religious to NOT want to hurt people or do anything that may hurt them. We all know that we should do the right thing because its right, not because of the conscences of the wrong thing. Thats why a lot of people THINK that Christians try to get us to join their religion out of fear, but Christians know that doing the right thing is just, you cant do the right thing, JUST because you are afraid of what might happen if you did the wrong thing. I dont think this question needs to be directed at anyone, non-religious people could answer in the same way religious people would as well.

I am not religious.Religion is evil.I would do the right thing and pass the greed up.It has a foul stench. That is because I am a Holy Spirit filled Christian who obeys Jesus and the Holy Spirit tells me in my heart which way to go.When to talk and when to dummy up.Can you dig it man.You got the story morning glory either way on the ride and that ain't no Jive.

There's almost no such thing as a truly selfless act (outside of dying for someone you don't even know). So even picking the "right" door would be selfish, and, in effect, greedy (at least in this situation).

The blue one.

Oh seriously! What an inane question.

Inflammatory and discriminatory.

Get a life.

Did YOU actually have to think about the answer?

I always have chosen the right door, which is why I'm poor, but have a clear conscience today.

WHO gets to draw the line between what is "The right thing" and what is "the fulfillment of greed"?

The door with the right thing.

I will not intentionally cause unnecessary death. Period.
