The best way to get a nice post in the Army is to ask for the bad ones. The Army has a knackof sending you where you don't want to go. When I was born my father was in the Army, he was assigned 16 of 23 years in Texas. So when I joined the Army and they asked where I wanted to be assigned, I said "I don't care I just don't want to go to Texas." I have now retired from the Army having one assignment in a combat zone and the rest of my career in Texas. When I was coming up for my last assignment and they asked me where I wanted to go, they said I couldn't go to Texas because it looked like I was trying to "Homestead" I asked for Ft. Irwin CA the worst base in the US. They sent me to San Antonio.

That depends on if you have already joined or not.
If you HAVE joined:
It is a little too late, though you can always go to AKO and fill out the ASK form (located in the tab with your Enlisted Record Brief and MyPay on the bottom right) and put in what you would like, though it is a toss up on if you would get them. You can also try doing a MOS swap- switch with someone of your MOS who wants your current assignment. You can ask your chain of command how that works.
If you HAVE NOT joined:
Do not sign any papers unless you get the station you want! Do some research before going to MEPS and find out what station you want to go to. Make a list of 3-5 choices that you would be happy with, and ask for them before signing anything. If they are not available, tell them "sorry" and say you aren't interested. I guarentee, even if they send you out to the waiting area, they will be available by the end of the day.

Go in to the Military Intellegence branch. You will find yourself in a nice little post in Arizona called Fort Huachuca. Look it up it's really a nice place.

Ben is right. I suggest an overseas post in Germany or Italy. They are the best.
