Is there a double standard here? Christians can put up billboards which are blatant attempts to spread the delusion and manipulate vulnerable people with fear, but if I was to put up a billboard in an attempt free people of a cruel system that enslaves them, I would probably be lynched by a mob of fanatics.

I did this in class once. Me and my friend thought it would be interesting to write THERE IS NO GOD and THERE IS A GOD two different days on our class's chalkboard. The former was erased in minutes whereas the latter enjoyed weeks on the board.

Pay for space and put it up and see. A billboard like that wouldnt save anyone anyway. By the way, there are more religions besides christianity. Some people would be pissed but those that are secure in there beliefs wouldnt care.

First of all, it's no delusion; and I certainly don't perceive myself as vulnerable, enslaved, or manipulated. I must confess I am feeling a bit fearful of people who see GOD as being cruel instead of loving and caring. I guarantee that there will be at least one time in everyone's life when GOD will be there to love and guide us ...

I don't think any advertising company would let you do it, unless you knew someone in the advertising business. Hell, I think if Satanists want to have their own billboards they should. Satanism isn't the violent religion Christianity makes it out to be. If you were able to do it, it would probably be torn down after an hour or so by church groups. I myself believe there is some kind of higher power(s) but I believe you have the right to do what you want to do. Good luck with it if you decide to really pursue it.

Oh yeah, freedom of speech costs money. Money for lawyers because I know some christians will actually try to sue and money for bodyguards to protect you against the violent christians.

As long as you continued to pay for the monthly billboard lease. Fortunately for you this earthly world has perfected this verse: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. 1Timothy 6:10. I am CERTAIN there are many places that will go against their better judgement and write whatever you pay them to on their billboard! Then they will have your money and assist you in spreading your delusional thoughts.

i agree why should they beable to spread lies just because a majority belives it or pretends that they do when the most ovious truth would be seen as wrong doing?i think they are afraid that the truth might get out if enough people band together and use thier heads a little then what would they do.i dont think its right in anyway so much for freedom of speech and expression its really a freedom of supression.

Yeah, you go right ahead and think that dear. You're blind and foolish. Christ-like people do not spread their belief through promoting fear in order to get converts. What you're looking at isn't Christ-like, therefore it is not Christian, so maybe you've got the wrong people. Just because some one calls themselves a Christian, doesn't mean all people should be judged by it.

And, what I believe certainly is not a delusion. If you can't respect other people's beliefs, then how can you expect them to respect yours?

Though, there is one thing I can say that you probably didn't notice. Even if you don't realize it, many Christians will do such things (whether I, even as a Christian, agree or disagree) because they love humanity enough to risk the chance of losing them to spread the truth. What they do is supposed to be out of love. What you're speaking of doing is doing something to offend some one out of your own offense, your own ignorance, and your own hate and dislike of some one else.

So, when you think about it, Christians can't be all that bad. At least when they do something it's generally out of love. All you're doing is promoting hate. Something to offend them because you get offended for the words sake. Can't get mad at people for caring about you.

Yeah but if they want to put up a billboard that 'spreads their word of g-d' it's not harming anyone so it's not a big deal, as long as it's not negatively attacking someone else. Putting one up that says 'there is no g-d' is being used to instigate or attack, so it's offensive.

You are just talking crap. You can keep your billboard as long as you pay the rent.
No one would lynch you and you know it.
Yes people would protest it if you word it like that. If you announced a meeting for atheist, you probably wouldn't get much of that.
It seems to me your billboard would just serve to be offensive just as your question was designed to do.
