A belief in a specific religion or a sincere belief in a higher power and a entity that gives us a reason for belief in someone other than ourselves?

Good question!

I would opt for a sincere belief in a higher power and that is Nature and Right Reason........ We ought to follow Nature as our guide, to contribute to the general good by an interchange of acts of kindness by giving and receiving and thus by our skill, our industry and our talents cements human society more closely together. And that is man to man...

It is no mean manifestation of Nature and Reason that man is the only animal that has a feeling for order, for propriety, for moderation in word and deed. And so no other animal has a sense of beauty, loveliness, harmony in the visible word.

Nature and Reason, extending the analogy of this from the world of sense to the world of spirit, find that beauty and consistency and order are far more to be maintained in thought and deed.

Thanks for asking. Have a good day!

I would have to say the sincere belief in a high entity. But its not for the reasons of beleif in someone other than ourselves, but more the knowing that something out there is looking over you, having something to believe in fullstop. Sometimes thinking about these entities or learning about them can bring an inner peace or sense of meaning. Why are we here? To learn and grow and become the best we can be. THAT is more important that the belief in a specific religion. What is the point? To please other around you? Or to avoid judgement and punishment. Do it because you want to and believe what YOU want to believe and what feels right to you. You will a lot happier that way. I garentee.

That depends on which belief structure turns out to be right, I suppose. Some of them it won't make a difference, while others dictate that belief in the specific faith is essential. But again, we cannot be sure until we know for sure who is right.

I suppose that it would differ according to what a particular person valued. Freedom does that for people.

I would undermine both religion and the 'higher power' things. I would do that by personalizing God as a person, not a religion or higher power.

Faith in God is more important, sincere belief in the Bible.
Many religions share the same belief in God and His word.
To me faith makes us spiritual, very important for me.

I don't know what's more important, but one is slightly more sane than the other.
There's a tiny chance there is a higher power or entity, but absolutly no chance of Jesus Christ or any other god for that matter being that entity.

The very core of my faith (Christianity) teaches that w/o belief that Jesus is the Son of God, no one comes to the Heavenly Father but through Him. So I believe that it would be the former.

The latter. Religion is created from belief for control purposes.

The so called supreme power(higher power)is also within you. You need to tap its potential. You are a microcosm of the universe.
