Would you put the people on earth, who you care about, below God?
Could you be content while in heaven, knowing people that you do care about burning in hell?

The reason I was prompted to ask this question, was that I put the people that I care about above everything (Or, rather, at the very least, I like to think I do), and can't imagine having one I place above them. This comes not out of sarcasm or anything.

No. That's why I do so much for the people here on earth.
I don't think any of the people I care about are going to hell. I think that God will be just enough to root out the genuinely good people, the ones who tried, the ones who treated their life and the people around them as worthy, those people will make it in heaven. It's all about how you treat God's creation.
Those with little regard for life, truth and justice...well. God loves them but unless they repent, they have no place in his kingdom. Death will not change your nature, and you will still want to do the things you did on earth. Live honorably and pure-hearted, with or without religion, and I don't think God will have a problem with you. He's smarter than the fundies give him credit for.
EDIT:
There is nothing wrong with placing a high value on the people in your life. I live my life this way: I give to my friends and family what is theirs, and I give to God what is His. God is not unhappy about us placing a high value on people, it's just when you replace him with people he has a problem. He wants us to love and value each other, more than ourselves. He, however is not going to blame you for your lack of faith. (I say all this assuming there is a God.) He knows that you tried and he knows that some minds have limitations as to what they can accept. As long as you are not, you know, evil evil, then He will understand...

Its not as if we are going to run off with God and leave our loved ones. God is the epitome of love and blessings. He has designed a beautiful purpose for each one of us on earth. So in putting Him in the center of our lives we live better for our loved ones. As far as the heaven question, I dont know. The bible doesnt elaborate alot on heaven. From what I have read, I cant imagine we will be bummed out sitting in heaven, its possible we just dont remember our life here on earth; for this is such a tiny part of our actual existence. btw: I like your question better than your answers ;) Gods peace to you.

There is nothing wrong with you asking those questions, in my opinion.
I deal with what you are talking about. The family I have here constantly doubt me. They don't know what to think of me. Some of them are even Christian, but I don't act like a person they expect a Christian to be. I remain devoted to God in ways which are foreign to them.
But this is the thing: They may be so affected by God the way I am. Anyone can. But the way I am affected by God is to do what I am doing right now. I tell people about Him, sometimes in ways they don't expect. That's is what is valuable to me. I can do it, and I love doing it more than I like hanging around family ( which I actually don't like doing, really) .
So everyone has their choice. I am put down for my choice, but I don't put them down for their choice. They see life as needing to be lived in the way they expect. I just don't see it that way. I value living my life with God first, and this is what that means. I am to them, not normal. Or should I quote them, " Weird."
So people on Earth can do what they want. I am zealous for God, and so weird to the world. I care more about what God thinks of me, not what my family or 'friends' think of me.

There are many ways we can put God first. Husbands and wives can listen to each other. Parents and children can be attentive to one another. God cares about how we are with each other.
We were designed to put God and His purposes first, not because God is an egomaniac, but because God made us for a relationship with Him. We are only complete--what our English translations of the Bible unfortunately call perfect, when the hole that exists in all of our souls is filled by God. Only we can give God permission to do that by putting Him first in our lives.
Sometimes, leftovers are the very best thing you can set before another person.(follow link for example)
But leftovers--the leftovers of our time, our talents, and our treasures--are the worst things we can set before God

I dont believe they will be suffering. I believe their progression will be halted and that they will gain no further knowledge then what they have, but they will be content where they are at.
I believe heaven is continual knowledge and progression. Lets face it, some people would be happier without having to continue to learn and progress.

Very good question. I think that God takes away the thought and sadness of remembering that fact. You just can't be unhappy with Him there, it's impossible.

1st question yes, because without God you wouldn't have your family, or the air you breathe
2nd question......good question i have no idea, God said he would wipe away every tear....so it seems we would understand it or just forget....tough question though.
