I can only speak as a Christian here, but personally I don't put much weight into 'signs.' Asking myself "Is this a gift from God or a temptation from Lucifer?" or "Is God punishing me or merely testing my faith?" doesn't really get me anywhere, since either way I can always go to his Word to get the answers I need.
Yes, King James wanted some changes made to the original KJV, and the translators took certain liberties themselves. Today's translations go back to the earliest manuscripts and give us as accurate a picture of what the original texts really said, so mistranslation and 'creative license' is a thing of the past.
As far as what's happening to you, keep in mind that no matter your faith, bad things are gonna happen to you. You're still gonna have bad hair days, you'll get sick from time to time, and people close to you will occasionally die... there's no escaping it.

"If they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them." God still performs miracles, but it is not His Will to heal EVERYONE. What would that accomplish? How would that strengthen their character? My mother is currently dying of a 20-year struggle with a severe form of MS. Her body is shutting down. I have been praying for years now that if it be in God's Will to heal her, that He would do so. The end of her life is now imminent, and I have accepted that it is not God's Will to heal her at this time. But my mother's body is so far gone, if He were to heal her, He would have to give her a completely new body - make her into her youthful self again. But why do that now, when she will be resurrected back to life in that very same youthful body when Christ returns soon anyway? It would be an unnecessary healing. I have just learned to trust God, no matter what, especially since I can't see the future, and I lack His wisdom. Let His Will be done, not mine.

God did though spare Abraham's son. But his own son he did not. He sacrificed his own son for all. Plus you are missing a very important message. Abraham had faith. God had promised him that he would be the Father of all nations. How could he be that if his son was dead. Abraham had enough faith in God to know that even if he killed his own son, God could restore him. Your bad luck has nothing to do with God. Satan is the ruler of this world for right now. God does not play games, he does try how ever to make a point

Proverbs 13:21 "Misfortune pursues the sinner, but prosperity is the reward of the righteous." it sounds to me like you never really had good teachers at church. what on earth were they teaching you guys? it sounds like your understanding of God is very lacking. what about how God is testing you to see your faith right now? are you doing as good as Abraham? or acting like those who will be destroyed because of lack of faith? so... instead of trusting Him and studying out why things happened that way, you responded to it immaturely. well...you can still change that! God is faithful even when we are not. so let's see that story's "reason" okay? the reason God did all that with Abraham was to set the stage for God to sacrifice His own son. if you choose to study it out you see that God showing us what he intended to do to save mankind...sacrifice Jesus Christ. so don't give up God he is worth the struggle. John 5:14 Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, "See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you."
Hebrews 3:12 "See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God."

I'm answering as a Christian. Your bad luck has nothing to do with God or the devil. Bad things happen to everyone, including the just and the righteous.
If you were raised Christian I am astonished that your former church didn't teach you that.

I think Christianity is really going to lose some followers when the George W Bush version comes out. That's going to be a mess

First, I have two translations that says in Isa 65:11 "the gods, meni and gad, the gods of luck and fate." That tells you about that; they are false gods people unknowingly believe in.
Second, the devil has moved into your life. God is our protection. The devil lied to you about God and God's motives.
Abraham believed God to raise Isaac from the dead; that was the test of it. God did not allow Him to slay His son. God does not play games and tricks on people. That is satan's territory and since he works that way, he lies about who he really is and always tries to convince people that God is like him; when he knows full well God is nothing at all like him.
God does not ruin our lives; we do it ourselves by turning away from Him, by turning to sin, by disbelieving what He says.
Satan has a stronghold in your thinking. He has deceived you about who God is.
As long as you are going to attack God you will get further and further away from Him. Nothing is more destructive.
God is perfect, He never makes mistakes. Our finite minds cannot comprehend His grandeur.
Isa 55 says "as high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are My ways above yours."
You must stop consulting with your own reasonings. 2 Cor 10:3-5 says "casting down imaginations, theories, reasonings, and every high and lofty thing that exalts itself against the true knowledge of God."
Make your way back to God; immediately. Study the bible as much as possible every day; open your heart and draw near to God in a complete and full repentance; give your life to God. The only thing we have to give God is our right to ourselves. Do it now. Nothing is worth your salvation.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life."
Oh, and refuse to listen to people's opinions that disagree with God; no matter how convincing they may sound, they cannot save your soul. Listening to opinions against the word of God will only serve to destroy you.

It's bad luck.
At least it's not as bad as the luck of Jesus Christ and he did believe in god.
When people come at you with a cross and nails start worrying

For those who God doesn't care about, He wont treat as sons and daughters. For those He does want:
Hebrews 12:6
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
So consider yourself lucky, and repent from your rebellion. That is what you are doing - rebelling.
