i woke up at 130 am my time with a sore neck, chills (with a tremor in my right arm resulting from them), runny nose, and a headache which is triggering nausea. i know that all of these symptoms seem unlikley to be related, but they have me so weak right now that i am considering calling 911.

All your symptoms indicate the start of a flu. I don't think you have either bacterial or viral meningitis which present with stiffness of the neck. Maybe, the position you assumed whlie sleeping is the culprit. Chills would account for the tremors on your right arm.- as you attributed. Runny nose is definitely the give-away sign for a flu. Do you have a fever? Nausea can be present with severe headches. And one of the major symptoms of the flu is headaches aside from generalized body weakness and malaise and discomfort.

This sounds like carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide poisoning, which can result from bad air cirulation, a below neighbor's stove pilot light fumes, etc.... Dring a sugar salt water solution, some lemonade also- or some citrus that contains lithium, and run it out. You may be short on proteins and or b vitamins also, be careful.

Can you move your head up and down without serious pain? If you lay on your back, can you raise your chin to touch your chest without your legs rising up? If not, it might be meningitis.
Everything else sounds like the flu to me, but the neck thing is something to be concerned about.

hmm jerry, my professional opinion would be to call 911, especially if you are feeling faint or like you may pass out. who knows what it could be. but if you are home alone or live alone and you dont feel comfortable or faint, go ahead and call. better safe then sorry
