It depends on the base and the level of family support. Also in some assignments it depends on what your assignment is.

For example, most assignments in Europe the whole family accompanies the service member.

In Korea, a service member usually serves a 12 month assignment, but in key assignments they have the person assigned for a longer period and make them "command sponored" meaning they can bring their dependents.

You have to ask the person at personnel branch

Any of them. Now there are no jobs that will keep you solely overseas...all jobs have spots in the continental US and overseas. In fact, the AF has cut down on letting families extend their stays or take second, consecutive tours in places like Germany and Japan simply because so many people want the chance to go and it is one of the draws for entering the military. There are some overseas assignments where families can't go...Korea is the main one...but to get the good you have to run the risk of the less-than-perfect.

theres no job that "usually" is put overseas.....you have the same chance of going regardless of your job (unless of course you are some sort of crew chief or something then your restricted to bases that have that plane) you have a little better chance if when you do your dream sheet you put only overseas bases on there. as far as AF is concerned England, Germany, Italy, Japan, Alaska and Hawaii(yes i know they are US but they are considered overseas) are your best chances....both of getting the assignment and taking the family with you.....korea is iffy usually you dont get to take your family with you and its a 12 month tour.....sometimes you can get a longer tour and be accompanied .....but the facilities there arent that great and its sorta a hostile place that i wouldnt want to take my kids.

Any military job, with the exception of some very unique special jobs, can be done from anywhere, and if you end up in a normal base instead of in a deployment type setting or Korea, the whole family will come along.

in the AF pretty much all OCONUS assignments are Accompanied. It's only the Army and Marines that have a large number of Unacompanied OCONUS assignments.. plus GITMO and Bahrain for Navy.

There may be restrictions based on paygrade and housing availability however. very large families( more than 2 kids) or families on EFMP will have a harder time getting accompanied orders.

Its not what job you have, its what base you go to. Korea for example you can bring family with you.

If you are directly working for or on a certain aircraft there will only be certain bases you can get... example- if you were a C-17 crewchief you can only go to Charleston AFB, Altus AFB, Dover AFB, or McChord AFB (there are more state side) because only those bases have those certain planes.

But you could be transportation, finance, medical, etc etc...and go to any base. Every base has the same function....just different planes.

All of them. The need for a specialty at a base is determined by the size of the base.

Some bases, remote and combat, do not allow dependents.
