If you believe in God in the traditional sense then he had to be on the side of the Jews killed during the Holocaust. People that believe in God think that God works in 'mysterious ways'. Allowing 6 million+ people to die may have taught humans a lesson to not let it happen again in a situation where 100 million may have died.

Once again Hitler, et al., were anything but religious. They would often exploit religion to win support of those less educated and more emotionally driven to garner political support. To blame God and religion itself is illogical. They are just tools. People who fail to see the contraction between killing others for any reason and their religion that preaches that killing is a sin are the ones to blame; not the tool itself.

God only watches what we do. He has no say on how we run our world. Nor can he do anything about it. It's devastating to think how many lives were lost and that people feel that God wasn't there. It's only the evil of man who can cause this much damage to their own kind.
