sorry burning brightly but most manual transmissions now use atf for lube, your ranger should have mercon5 in it but i would ask the local ford dealer too make sure, they can tell you and tell you how much you need.

It is not automatic it is a manual that means it requires trans oil not trans fluid there are not any tiny ports there is gears bearings and a type of ring which lines up the gears for changing ~~

I have a '95 F-150 with a 4-speed w/OD. My service manual specifies ATF. I'm not saying you should use ATF, but you must consult your owners manual at the very least. Preferably get a Ford factory service manual (or a Haynes manual), this will prove priceless.

Trans fluid. there is small ports in there that the 80/90wt cannot get through

it should take mercon, but what kind may vary depending on the year.

use owners manual and get synthetic tranny fluid.
