US: M1Abrams,
British: FV4034 Challenger 2 ,
France: L'Clair (sp),
RUSKIE: T-90S,
Israeli: Merkava Mk 4.....
Italian: C1 Ariete
China: ZTZ-99 and WZ-123
Iran: Zulfiqar
Germany: Leopard 2A6M
Abrams are fast, T-90s and Leclerc are faster. Merkava 3&4 are faster offroad.
All modern tanks can hit moving targets while they're moving. Leclerc and Merkava4 can do it even better through FCS-integrated autotracker and T-90 even much better through bore-launched ATGMs.
German Rh120mm/L55 tungsten, israeli-improved 120mm GIAT tungsten and russian 125mm BM-44 U-Ni-Zn-alloy rounds have the same power through higher velocity (1750-1800 m/s instead of Abrams 1650 m/s)
And in HEAT-rounds soviets always led anyway, their new tandem charge HEAT-round with DU-liner has 800mm RHA-penetration.
I think, what gives me the choice of best of the best: Leopard, besides the german history of good tank design, is their ability to deploy infra-decoys and smoke screens to hide from enemy tanks and heat seeking missiles.

Germany has the Leopard 2 and 3 series Main Battle Tanks, very close to the American M1 Abrams Series.
Britain has The Cheiftain, which has the same main gun as the Original M1 Abrams, and good armor. I think they are upgrading those with the 120mm Rhienmetal Gun. The diesel engine was not as good a performer as the Jet Turbine engine in the Abrams, but I think that is being addressed also.
France has a decent tank, but it is comparably to the older US. M-60 series. Lightly armored by M1 Abrams standards, it has better visibility and good automotive performance. It sports the same type of 105mm gun the M1 had when it first appeared. A new tank, the "LaClerk" has yet to prove itself.
Russia is continuing to improve it's tanks, and is currently building what is referred to by NATO as the T-2000 tank. Russia seems to be ahead of the game in the development of other fast deployably, light armor vehicles, maybe a lesson learned from their Afghan and Chechen experience, or from the Americans in Asia!
