Yes, cat bites with pointy fangs inocculate with Pasteurella. Keep your hand higher than your elbow when it is in the sling, and the thumb higher than the hand. Put slightly hot water on a cloth and put it on your thumb with your hand up high for 5 minutes 2-4 times daily.

OW! I had a cat bite me right in the hand too, in the meat-tissue between my thumb and index finger... oh that was not fun. But I didn't go to the doctor for it. I just cleaned the wound up as much as I possibly could, put neosporin on it and bandaged it up, and tried not to use that hand much. Of course, this was before I knew of how serious cat bites could be.

If this persists, go see your doctor again. But you should be fine. keep putting disinfectant on it. If you can, with whatever medication you're on, take some advil, it's great for reducing swelling. However, be sure to check with your doctor about taking advil first! you may not be able to take it with other medications your doctors have perscribed.

Also, if swelling is an issue, try putting ice, or a cold cloth on it. Simple and primitive, yes, but also very effective.

It will go away, I was bitten by a cat once when I was trying to feed it. It hurts and then swells but it does go away in a day or two.
