desk jobs deploy too. EVERY SINGLE JOB has the potential to deploy. UNITS deploy, and if you are the supply guy for that unit, you deploy when they do.
If you are unwilling o accept the possibility that you will be called on to go wherever, whenever and for however long they require it, then do not enlist.

there are alot of false theories on the AF floating around....first off there really are no MOS's that dont deploy. as for the 1 year out of 3 that someone else posted.......yes typically you get some sort of overseas tour during your time in the military (either short or long).....typically they tell you to prepare yourself that if your a lifer (plan on doing the full 20) .....you will do at least 1 long tour and 1 unaccompanied short tour during your time. But they do also go to Iraq...alot. and dont think if you get sent to an overseas base you are immune to it either....when we were in Japan my husband deployed more than he ever did from the US......the AF typically doesnt deploy full units like other branches.......they have "buckets"....usually your shop will be divided into 2-3 of them.....when that bucket comes up they will take however many they need from each base that are in that bucket until they get enough. So even though you may actually deploy with like 300 other people only 4 or 5 of them may be your actual coworkers. oh and FYI my husband works a "desk job"...(which he earned after 7 years of grunt work lol) and since he got that desk job in sept 04 he has spent 23 months in iraq. and he is seeing combat.......hes not going over there to sit behind a desk.

Every Airman can expect to deploy multiple times in his or her career. From pararescuemen to support functions (including admin), there are plenty of deployments. The Air Force is also deploys members to support its sister services, especially the Army.

You will be over seas in most any MOS in the air force for 1 year of a 3 year hitch. What is so bad about 1 year in Europe or japan.

There are no guarantees.....The service assigns you where they need you......but in the Air Force you probably will not see frontline duty but have a support roll....
You fear of deployment is magnified by lack of information.....I fought in two wars.....was Infantry in the mud and the blood......and it is not that bad......
