U pay upfront to load or purchase, you pay to check your balance, you pay a monthly admin fee if U do not use it before 6 months or a year. So If you get one for Christmas and you forget to use it it will be worth nothing the following Christmas.... Don't waste your and my time RIP OFF

Wrong Frankie they all have fees. They even hire a company to look after their gift cards. The banks, trust company or credit union sell them and then farm out the maintance to anouther company. What is the point

I wondered the same thing when they first came out.. I saw a commercial at first and thought... why would anyone do that? Unless you are mailing to someone far away as a gift then they can use it as a big coupon.. My brother sent me a 50 dollar one for my bday and I used it the next time I went grocery shopping as a coupon.. Never used it again!!

My son got some for his bday, given in person.. I was thinking.. why not just give cash??

I would have to agree. I flatly refuse to purchase gift cards anymore. A couple years back, I bought several thousand dollars worth of the cards as holiday gifts for past and current clients. I had a few left over, and stored them in a desk drawer and rather forgot about them. When I found them a bit more than a year later, they were all worthless. Fees for lack of use had reduced their values to zero.

These are just like most gift cards for stores. If you look closely gift cards do the same exact thing. these are better because they can be use anywhere visa is accepted.

Also there are some visa cards that do not have fees.

You should try the American Express gift card. It does not have these problems. Are you sure visa charges you a inactivity fee? There have been laws passed against that in most states!!!
