He cannot be a reliable friend. His attitude is negative. He will hurt your feelings & upset you emotionally. Girls are more emotional . Most of the boys do not consider this facter while playing with their feelings & damage them psychologically. While making a boyfriend tell clearly to be positive , clean & never breach the trust.

I'm sorry to say it, but that's awfully rude of him. If he was a good friend, he would accept your invitation gladly, not wait for a better offer.
I understand you like him, and it's probably hard to see how mean that is of him, but I would consider asking someone else. What if he found a "better" date? Where would you be then, dateless?? AND broken hearted.

Soooooo----if he goes with you, he is using you???? So what? Go anyway and have fun, make sure that you also enjoy the company of others while at this affair you are attending....speak to every one, especially the boys...enjoy...life is short....let him use you only in the terms of attending this formal event...not in any other way---ever..MIMI

Did he say yes. If so, leave well enough alone. If you like the guy, that is sufficient. If not, he could have many reasons (not enough money, has prior engagement, going with someone else).
