yes!free within the boundaries set by society.
no! if really free means DOING the prohibited,:
for example:
having sex with in immediate family members,go out and kill some one because you didn't like his/her face, bury new born babies alive, buying or selling humans/slaves,and a lot of other
acts prohibited by society...
call it "Limited Freedom"
and we all need to be under control.

Actually what do you mean by "free"? Watching movies, going around the city with girls to pubs and to watch movies
with all sorts of exposure and meaningless violent scenes?
True freedom comes from within when you depend on the innernet and not the internet. If we want to go freely to some picnic we have to face terrific traffic jams everywhere and even on the roads of the city we are not free.
Teenagers ,most of them even if they want to do something out of their free will, they are obstructed by their old generation parents. So how can we expect to be really free in a free world which is "free" for terrorists, Naxalites, kidnappers and Goondas? In a country like India anti-social-elements are more free than social workers.

We are free for as long as we don't cross boundaries. We have free will in the sense that we can make choices that takes into consideration the limitations.

There's just limit to ones freedom because we have no monopoly of the world but share this with other human beings as well.

The truth & nothing but the truth is that 'WE' are NOT FREE in a 'free world'. This phrase was coined aeons ago.
By 'WE' I am not including every human being.
No doubt a handful or a fraction/ 0.5% of humans are FREE. This figure is almost negligible. Yet they are the people who are in power, they are able to use force etc., to do their free will. BUT THEY ARE STILL NOT FREE & WILL NEVER BE. They are not free from GUILT/ CONSCIENCE etc.
Many who say they are free will sooner or later face the grim reality. These are also a mere 5-7% of all humans.
Followed are the 92-94% of humans who have realised & adjusted to the truth that they are NOT FREE.

THE ONLY SELECTED ONE'S WHO TRULY ARE FREE IS >1% of humans & almost impossible to trace/ find or meet. AND THIS ITSELF IS THE REASON THAT THEY ARE FREE!

Jayasri says it gr8 & her source is Bhagwad Gita.........yet if anybody happens to get the gist of my answer u will realise I AM ALSO SAYING THE SAME THING & MY SOURCE IS MY MIND - "MASTAKSH"

NO. We never were/are/will be free. Spiritually we are all bound by our actions(karma as defined in hindu religions). Action causes result & result causes an action. Satwik(divine), Tamsik (worldly) and rajsik( egoistic) karmas have their own results.
e.g......
you harm somebody. The result is a pnishment for which u will have to take another birth & so on...
Dhrutrashtra's 100 sons got killed in the war. But for that punishment, he needs to have 100 sons for which he must have done some good jobs(punya) which require it's own time. To conclude none is free in real sense.
The art of becoming free from boons & sins is called Yoga as defined by Lord Krushna in Gita.

Although we do have a free will but we are not really free since we are in the prison of this body in the cellar of the material world. We have to abandon this miserable world and utilise our free will to attain liberation.

Firstly... what is freedom? Its just being saved from some one who rules you badly.. then a constitution is formed to prevent something bad happening thru those who take advantage of the freedom... then do you call the constitution a bad task master??? similarily, we have free world... withsome laws ... which give us free will to do things without breaking the law. We have free will to choose given by God. But it is good for us to use our free will within the criteria laid by god to prevent confusion. When freedom is misused cvil war breaks.... when free will is misused cvil war breaks within us. body does not agree with mind and same with spirit!!!! We are free.. (If the Son sets u free u r free indeed).

No one is free in this world. This world is called Maya (Illusion) and is a prison house for the fallen conditioned souls. We are in a prison of this body bound by our karma. No one is free accept for the few Pure ambassadors of the spiritual world. They come here to take us out of this prison house. But those who this otherwise are just covered by the illusory energy thinking they are A. OK. NOT. They are the most bound up in illusion and in a prison in their mind of false thinking.

Answer :

It is a difficult question, put me in a difficult situation to answer:

Now I feel free to answer .. .so I can say free

But can I go outside and share the society, no I don't think I am that free to express myself.

There is denial everywhere. People want to first reject you whenever you want to tell something good.

You ask a silly question, many would come answer you. But when you ask a useful, intelligent and sincere question, they would come and abuse you.

Still I am confused, but I promise you that I answered you freely.

But there are many who don't have the privilege to answer you…. Till they answer you, I don’t think we are free

Our so-called free will is not free at all. It's only free to chose the lesser of evils. This world is run and dominated by Satan. It is only as a Christian you are given true free will in Christ.
