I know alot of people that hate the fact religion was even invented..What makes non believers so angry about others believing in there religion? What makes them so upset by people (& me) that want to be the best we can be in life, and go to heaven in the afterlife?

Just to let you guys know I'm a very religious person & I don't have a problem with you or your beliefs^_^ I don't think I'm better than anyone in this world.
But of course, all religious people don't think like because nobody is perfect.

but see the thing is you can't say my beliefs are wrong.. just like i can't say the same thing for you.. because none of us are dead & we will only know what the truth is until we are dead.

On both sides of this fence there are people who are angry, upset, and full of hatred.
Don't pay attention to those people.
I am an Atheist and I don't hate anything or anybody. I believe we all should do what makes our lives easier and to stay true to ourselves.
I hope you give me the same respect.

We don't believe in Heaven, so that's a moot point. Also, religion doesn't make a person any better-- the individual does. Religion didn't create right, wrong, and the morals in between.
The problem isn't with you or your beliefs-- the problem lies with the fact that many religious people try to take over countries and make the countries conform to their religion's beliefs. Creating religious laws and killing in the name of religion is a BIG problem.
I mean, come on-- some people here in the US in this day and age STILL can't marry the person that they love because they are the same gender. It's not the disbelievers that make gay marriage illegal, but the religious people. Religious people are also opposing stem cell research, when it can save millions of lives and irradicate many killer illnesses.
Religious people make all kinds of laws that are there simply to make the rest of us conform to their ideas of right and wrong. How cna anyone justify keeping two people in love from marrying, especially when no one in the world is affected except the two that marry? Gay marriage and stem cell research aren't hurting anyone, but the religious are opposing both because it's "wrong". And I'd say that's a huge problem.
So does that clarify why people have such a problem with religion? It's not that you believe-- it's that many believers are trying to rule our lives with their ideas, and that's just wrong in every way.
Peace.

It is not being good or wanting to go to heaven that bothers non believers but the power to disrespect atheist to abort the constitution by denying rights in political circles and over-riding the law to spread a specific brand of religion politically .
When the Catholic church has the clout to demand god be injected into government against the constitution something is wrong . When these same factions want a pseudo science like the religious belief in intelligent design injected into the schools wrongfully it goes against the security of a nation which has up until now lead the world in science without warping it to satisfy someones superstitious religious ideology.

A. There are things people believe to be true , and there are religions .
1a. Religious people are basing their beliefs on clearly outdated , incorrect , or false information .
2a. Religions are bureaucratic institutions that for the most part encourage #1a (above) for the sake of maintaining the institutions ,and wealth and positions of their leaders . And often the leaders simply don't want to face the truth that they took a wrong path .
B. What makes us so angry is :
1b. The religious usually try to impose their views of morality on all society . Issues such as "Blue Laws" , Modesty in dress , Consumption of alcohol , and Availability of contraceptive devices and sexual aids .
2b. The religious people brainwash children and uneducated people into believing things that they have no scientific proof of .
3b. The religious people often look down upon non-believers as being "lost" , "unsaved" , self centered , immoral , not nice , victims of "Satan" , and worse .
4b. It makes us angry when we see the leaders and institutions of many of these religions take money from people in order to live a life of luxury while claiming to be "holy" and in service of a "god" who wants the needy people to be helped .
5b. It makes us angry when we see members of religions turn a blind eye to #4b , and continue to support and advance such a system .
6b. It makes us SAD when we realize that the institution of religion is keeping someone like you , because of their rules , regulations , lies , and money grabbing , from living your life to the fullest here on earth , instead of believing in a fairy tale "heaven" .
If you try to be the "best" you can be in life ... DO GOOD . You can accomplish more by not giving your money and time to "worship" , and by not allowing the limitations ( rules for avoiding sin ) of your religion to stop you from being your best .

I find it a double standard that public comments about religion should be censored (any religion) when those within the religious communities feel public comments to "non-believers" or about non believers need not to be censored.
Also, I do agree...stop providing tax shelters for religion/churches, It makes no sense to me and perhaps just help to create abuses and, fertile for deception and decent.

Not at all - so long as you keep it to yourself. Attempting to legislate beliefs to everyone else, and dictating them into our schools - that's off limits. And so is judging what the afterlife of others will be like.
We get upset by arrogance and attitude. If your personal spirituality was kept personal, no one would care. But that's rarely the case.

I think we both are at fault. I'm a Christian, and when I see Christians ask questions geared toward other Christians, I see Atheists attacking us. But then when an Atheist throws in a debate (A respectful one... no trashing anyone's religion), there are still other Christians trying to preach to them. I believe we are both at fault, and I hope that we all learn to respect eachother.

Their is a large difference, Non believers are being held against their will by using devil and his forces being dragged far flung from their salvation by using Jesus Christ and the believers have stumbled on that salvation yet could look after it for the duration of the firestorm that devil throws at each of them daily. it fairly is a combat for all of them.

I don't really give two Shiites what you believe...
UNTIL you want tax breaks for believing it.
UNTIL you restrict me in accordance with your beliefs.
UNTIL you start wars over your beliefs, or continue them.
It's not the BELIEFS that are the problem, nonsensical as they are; it's the ACTIONS based on those beliefs. Problem is, faith-based thinking inevitably leads to bigotry, atrocity, and other abuses.

i have nothing against people with faith, as long as they dont have anything against me for not having faith. one of the reasons i dont have religion is because of what it does to people. (NOT ALL PEOPLE) i dont like the judgement i get, i dont like it when someone thinks they are better then me because they have god, or because they are going to heaven and ect ect
people should just do what they want, and not worry about other people
