Rinse your mouth with warm salt water 3 times a day, it hurts like hell but it should be healed up in a day or so. As far as the pain in the mean time....suck it up!!

Get campho pheonique (not sure if I spelled that correctly). It's $2 a bottle at Wal Mart, comes in a green bottle with yellow label. It may sting for just a moment, but it's not that bad. I get cold sores ALL THE TIME and a guy I know once told me to try that. It's what all the old timers used to use, and with good reason. It works way better than ANY medicine, OTC or perscription. Your sore should be gone in no more than three days, and that's if it's a really big one. Just dab it on with a Q Tip whenever you think about it throughout the day. . . once or twenty times. Seriously, try this and you'll see it's the best. In the mean time, get some Orajel, or another toothache medicine to cover it with to help with the pain.

Go to the grocery store or pharmacy.
Check in the mouth-care isle or in the baby isle.
Look for Ora-Gel or Numzit.
These are pain relieving solutions you can paint on your canker sore that will give you about 20 minutes of relief -- long enough to eat or to fall asleep while your mouth is numb.

The least expensive products I can reccommend are campho phenique or carmex in a small tube available in any drug store or pharmacy area of walmart, walgreens, CVS etc. however the most effective but rather expensive and a little harder to find (vitamin specialty and health food stores) colloidal silver applied every hour or so in only a small drop or so will wipe it out in 2 days tops.
