As long as your church isn't breaking laws (which it doesn't sound like you are) then you're doing the Christian thing by reaching out to the poor regardless of what their status may be. I think it is important for Christians to be aware of political issues like this and to give very careful consideration both to upholding the law and helping people who need help. Proverbs 31 says Open your mouth, judge righteously and speak the cause of the poor and needy. I think that verse really applies to issues concerning a lot of immigrants.

I think it's black and white: God ALWAYS has a heart for the immigrant. It's our own racist/ xenophobic/ paranoid/ elitist (insert your own word for a person who feels like they were born an American because God loves them more than those born elsewhere) people who forget the very foundation on which this country was built: bring in the tired, poor, hungry masses yearning to be free, and assimilate them into what it is to be an American - freedom and liberty for all... as Americans. That is, you have to buy in to the system if you want to participate in the system. No assimilation? Then please enjoy your visit and go home soon, because this is America for Americans, but virtually ALL Americans began from immigrant roots.
I find that the immigrants I know are more "American" than most native-born Americans - they believe in hard work, saving for the future, supporting their families and their adopted country.
JMHO... sorry... on a bit of a rant tonight.
EDIT: And it's a rare night when I find myself in agreement with Toadaly. Thumbs up for you, dude...

Christians should do as Jesus Christ did.
Jesus went out of his way to go to Samaria which was the Jews neighbors which they despised. His work was to preach the gospel to the poor and help those in need, and forgive sin.
It seems to me your church is doing the right thing. God bless you in your endeavors.

I believe in benevolence, But these people are trying to take over the country. They are like ravaging wolves they are not asking, they are taking & demanding. The thing about it is they are causing division & chaos, rememeber it's the little foxes that destroy the vine. All you people that think you are doing God's will, why did Neiamia go & rebuild the walls in Jerusalem. Was it not God that motivated him? Peace!

If we can agree with the status quo and not feel "regret," then we are doing the correct thing. What would God do in this matter before us? I am always able to resolve my concerns when I put God there instead of me. It actually works! I wish you well. Peace, Love and God Bless.

Why does your church (or any other for that matter) have to look at them at all? They are people in need. This is why I don't go to church as an adult. There is more judging inside those walls than the secular world.

Why think about how a type of person must react? How do YOU feel about it as a human being, and how much are you willing to do about that?

Check that bible of yours. It probably says something about being honest and law abiding.
Ohhh, it probably says something about helping fellow man too, but that was before our generous welfare programs. Illegals should not be sneaking into our country and being coddled in the name of some pretend stories.

nicely for starters Messianic Jews are no longer Jews they're actual a well known Evangelical circulation that integrated Mosaic rules into their ideals and use Jewish terminology and practices. until now Christians have been referred to as Christians they have been the Nazarene (aka. followers of how) wherein they accompanied the classes of Jesus which became taught via the Apostles and accompanied the ordinances of Mosaic regulation this is until at last St. Paul arrived as a results of fact past until now St. Paul the Gentile (Non-Jewish) converts have been compelled to maintain on with the ordinances of Mosaic regulation. there have been Jewish converts yet no longer that a lot of them as a results of fact maximum Jews seen the Nazarene as being heretics that's why i urge human beings to examine the e book of Acts, the Apostles have been rejected via the Jews and have been kicked out of their synagogues. and of direction no longer many Gentiles (Non-Jews) have been changing as a results of fact they have been compelled to maintain on with the ordinances of Mosaic regulation. while St. Paul arrived he taught them that Jesus had fulfilled the Mosaic regulation for them that they've been no longer sure via the ordinances of Mosaic regulation for those rules have been made for the folk of Israel under the old Covenant. nicely there became a divide interior the Nazarene those that widespread the classes of St. Paul could be referred to as the Christians. people who rejected the classes of St. Paul could proceed to be the Nazarene yet as a results of fact they rejected the classes of St. Paul an Apostle chosen via Jesus Himself that they had lost the Apostolic Succession. Now while this transition taken place there have been some that no longer compelled the ordiencence of Mosaic regulation upon others yet they themselves persisted to maintain on with those ordienances they have been referred to as the Hebrew Christians like what St. Paul became a Hebrew Christian. those that did no longer save on with the ordinances of Mosaic regulation have been your Christians. in case you examine the Paulin Epistles interior the recent testomony they actually discourage following the ordinances of Mosaic regulation. at present there are Hebrew Catholics that stay in Israel. The Catholic Church made an exception for them being that they are Jewish converts yet they did no longer opt for to desert following the ordinances of Mosaic regulation.

Unless you want to go to jail, obey the law. If you want to help, do it legally. No pun intended.
