For Christianity - an example.
Jesus never resurrected. He recovered and made the long trip to India, settling in Kashmir, where he lived to an old age, and is buried there.
He was never the Son of God, nor a world saviour. He was just a prophet.

HERESY CAN BE ABUNDANTLY DISTRIBUTED BY THE FACT THAT HUMANS DO NOT GIVE GOD ENOUGH CREDIT FOR HIS INTELLIGENCE, IT IS MORE OF A DOWNPLAY TO STAY IN ONE PLACE IN YOUR LEARNING OF GOD THAN TO GROW IN WISDOM. OUR CREATOR DESERVES US TO NEVER UNDERESTIMATE HIS INTELLIGENCE.
HERESY IS WHEN YOU FEEL HUMAN SHAME WHERE NONE IS NEEDED.
HERESY IS NOT FORGIVING YOURSELF BECAUSE IF YOU CANNOT FORGIVE YOURSELF YOU CANNOT FORGIVE EVEN GOD.
NOT LIVING LIFE TO IT'S FULLEST AND PAYING ATTENTION TO ALL! ATTRIBUTES,RUSHES,AND GIFTS CAN BE A FORM OF HERESY.

Back during the witch hunts, if you were caught doing ANYTHING they deemed to be satanic, you were a heretic...and hence, given strange torture devices as well.

Anytime you were seen to have broken away from the "true faith" you could've been put to death.
