Fortune favors the bold.
Has this nervousness ever done anything worthwhile for you? No? Then why are you holding on to it so dearly?
Go and ask. Do it.
Have a specific date notion (dinner, movie, co-volunteer at some holiday charity, biking, whatever) in mind (or, in fact, seek her advice on what she'd like best). Also one or two contingencies if she's already booked, or the first option isn't appealing. Don't take one "No" for an answer; two or three, okay, but not one.
And if you do get No, the sun comes up tomorrow anyway. It's not the end of the world. There's a Yes out there, not far off.

Ask her out anyway. Just ask her out. Get up, go to her and ask.She is not going out with you now so, if you ask and she says no, you have not lost anything except the fear of asking her out. DO IT
