Don't know much about the GOA but for what it's worth I'm a life member of the NRA and a member of NRA-ILA and am most pleased.

I really can't say about GOA since I know nothing of them, but as an NRA Life Member since 1970, now an Endowed Member, I believe that the NRA has been THE driving force behind the Protection of the 2nd Amendment, more and better training and training facilities for our nations Law Enforcement Officers, Encouragement to our youth through early firearms training programs, the promotion of civilian marksmanship (it's original reason for the organization) and education of the population at large on firearms safety and dispelling the myths, rumors, wives tales and plain anti-gun lies.
I think they have done a great job doing these things. I also think that protection of the firearms industry is a part of protecting the citizens right to Keep and Bear Arms. If the industry is thrown under the bus, where do we turn for our weapons?

The NRA is a much biggger organization and can offer many more services than GOA. Both are highly involved in keeping on top of legislation that could be bad for gun owners. I know Larry Pratt of GOA and he and his staff are highly dedicated to preventing legislation that is detrimental to gun owners. I'm not sure, but I would expect that NRA is a bit more effective due to its greater size but Larry and GOA are also doing a vital service for gun owners. It is good to belong to both organizations.

I don't know much about GOA. I am a member of NRA and the NRA is the second or third strongest lobby in Washington. The NRA also has lobbyist in every state and the NRA lobby has their own office in California. If I could only join one it would be the NRA.

Neither is better. They are just different in their idealogy and approach. I tend to agree with GOA's hardline, no negotiation position, but I am a lifer at NRA, because while I may not always agree, no one in Washington has more power to protect my Constitutional rights.
Don't choose, join both.

I am impressed with the raw passion of the GOA, they are radical in a good sense
I am equally impressed with the long-standing traditions of the NRA, which has been at the forefront of defending Liberty longer than any other organization
Both are necessary and vital

I cannot speak for GOA, but I can tell you that the NRA is terrible. They will gladly take your money and beg more out of you and do little or nothing in return. The NRA is the biggest group of sellouts there is. They will protect the gun manufacturers, but really won't do much for the average gun owner.
In fact, a board member fo the NRA, Joaquin Jackson, has caught a lot of flack for saying that the people don't need any more than 5 rounds and hunters really only needs a single round. Charleton Heston was known for rabidly claiming that private ownership of AK rifles is "innapropriate".
I am a gun collector and I can assure you it will be a cold day in hell before the NRA gets a penny from me.

I really don't think it's a question of which organization is better. The NRA-ILA seems to be a bit more directly involved from the political aspect, but both organizations are worth belonging to in efforts to maintain or Constitutional right to bear arms.....I belong to both.I'm sure many others do too!

The 2nd Amendment is the all that any of us firearms owners & users ever needed until the Politicians & Government decided to not Honor or Respect what was granted to us by our Founding Father's in the Form of the 2nd Amendment.* It is not a privilege, but a Right given to us by our Constitution.* Their are those who would try to convince us otherwise, and attempt to deny us that Right.* Would you be willing to fight and die to protect that Right and all other Rights according to our Constitution. " I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees." Would you?*
