Hm. Interesting question...
I personally reject the notion of a personified God and choose to think of it as an energy (the creative force in the Universe) and I think it facilitates our learning here - largely directed by our own free will and that which we dwell upon in our hearts and in our minds.
I am also interested in a recent theory I heard that suggests that we ourselves - our own colletive essence - make up the God energy. Our Intention is what makes this existence. The idea seems to say that we exist merely because we wish to - and it is our own intentions that creates and makes this world for a place of learning.
In each of these scenarios, I can see God having all (if we create and maintain this existence ourselves, then everything we know is a characteristic or attribute of our own Creative Energy) or none (a facilitating energy that makes things go, very often does not interpret or participate in the actual going - it merely makes it possible) of the attributes that we as humans have. The only difference is that it shows itself to be much more cooperative and agreeable than humans in large groups often appear to be.
Peace!

The main characteristic/attribute of GOD is ORIGINALITY. Only God is ORIGINAL, All else in the Universe have emanated from God.

I quote Swami Dayananda Saraswati:
In Sanskrit, God is called Bhagavan. One who has Bhaga. What is Bhaga? " Aiswaryam, Jnanam, Vairagyam, Viryam, Yashas and Shree", these six qualities in their limitless form are called Bhaga. The one who has them is Bhagavan.
If there is a small insect like an ant and you can lift it and save its life. Or you can crush it. You have "Aishwaryam". With reference to all the species which are at your mercy - you can be the protector. Or you can destroy them. But this is not the case with reference to bacteria and virus, because you do not see the enemies. Therefore you are helpless too. But if there is "Aiswaryam" which is absolutely limitless and with reference to everything, that is the "Aiswaryam" referred to by the world "Bhaga".
Similarly in terms of knowledge. To your small son you are a genius. Because you know 5+4=9. You are all knowing in his eyes. But you have ignorance too with reference to so many things. Suppose there is only knowledge. All knowledge. That is "Bhaga". Bhaga of "Jnanam" (Knowledge).
You have got "Viryam" to create or destroy something. But NOT always and NOT everything. If it is absolutely limitless then it is a "Bhaga".
You have a certain "Vairagyam". Vairagyam does not mean turning away from a thing. After eating a banana what is your disposition with reference to the banana peel? That is called "Vairagyam". " Na dveshti na kankshati" - he does not hate nor does he crave. Once upon a time balloons and marbles were very important for you but now with reference to them you have grown up. This is "Vairagyam". The Vairagyam in Bhagawan (God) is for everything.
The next one is "Yashas - glory. Every glory that is there is HIS glory, every manifest is His glory. The glory of Sun, the moon the earth, the glory of your eyes and ears that they are capable of sight and hearing, the glory of your voice that you can sing, that you can talk - all these are not ordinary. They are "Vibhutis" - glories. All these glories belong to the total called the Bhagawan (God).
And finally, "Shree". Limitless Shree is Bhaga. When somebody is poor, you are at the giver's end. You do not feel that you have lost anything. If there is a sense of loss you have a problem. By giving, you should not have a sense of loss and the one who never has a sense of loss because everything belongs to Him is called "Shriman" in the real sense.
These six qualities in their limitless form are called Bhaga. The one who has these is 'BHAGAVAN" (God).

Whatever is the greatest perfection, consummate with all other into a single attribute.
It is in Whom Justice and Mercy, Power and Gentleness, Hidden and Manifestation, etc. are All One Single Attribute.
All else is evident privation of some quality, and measure of this, and thus our privation is our own distinction, and our dependence upon God's attainable Perfection (Sometimes called the Holy Spirit) is thus also certain.
That is my understanding.
God bless.

God is alpha and omega. The first and the last. He is a loving, caring God who cares about his kids a lot. HE knows us more than anyone in this world. He loves us more than anyone in this world. I think God is a very open hearted person, because only a very open hearted person can forgive all the sins of humans and still tell us that ' I love u.'

Men rarely (if ever) manage to dream up a God superior to themselves. Most Gods have the manners and morals of a spoiled child.
