Yes, I remember it like it was yesterday! I was baptized 46 years ago in a small Baptist church in Tallahasssee, Florida. It was Sunday morning, and I was a little apprehensive because I was afraid of water, and I was sure the pastor would drown me. When I put my white robe on and walked down the steps into the baptismal, I remember the water felt very warm, and that struck me as odd because I thought it would be cold. The pastor was very reassuring, and told me he would be putting a hankerchief across my nose and mouth. This made me feel a lot better.

I remember the pastor putting one arm up into the air like he was reaching towards heaven, and he said, with his eyes closed, that "I now baptize Virginia>>> in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit." He also said that I would be a new person in Christ Jesus when I arose from the water. He then put the hankerchief over my mouth and nose, and gently lowered me under the water. When I came up out of that water I truly felt like I was a different person! I remember it was cloudy the Sunday I got baptized, but as soon as I came up out of the water, I could see through the stained-glass window ahead of me, and the sun was shining! I felt Jesus did that just for me!

I am SO glad you posted this question! I am so thankful for the opportunity to share my baptism with others. God bless you!!!

Yes, actually I was 7 and it was a total immersion baptism. My dad was the pastor and his hand slipped off my face so I breathed in a ton of water. To make it even more fun, my greatest fear has always been of drowning. So it was quite memorable, but not in the way I would like it to be.

Yep. I was 10 years old -- baptism by total immersion. Of course, that was the first time. I was re-baptized at age 24, too.

Yes, but it was a while ago. Years and years ago. My father performed the baptism. It occurred in the LDS Tabernacle on temple Square in Salt Lake City.

Yes, 10/31/1959, 48 years ago, in Pasadena, CA. I didn't feel any different coming out than I did going in, but I have learned since then that I did the right thing and have continued to try to follow the path I began on that day.

Yes, very, very, vividly. The few days that led up to it, the day of it , the river, the onlookers, the pastor, the clothes I wore. Oh yes, it was a memorable day, as important as my wedding day, the births of my children..........

Thanks for taking me back!
