Most scientists don't agree that humans cause climate change, so the "absent issue" probably refers to the hypocrisy of people like Al Gore who believe the AGW myth, lie about it in movies and yet were never found to do a thing about it while in office. And that same fool has the audacity to blame any climate problems he can invent on current leaders. Luckily most people see the "global warming" hoax and liars like Gore for what they really are. It's just a money grab that seems to fool the very ignorant and uninformed.

Just to set the record straight, the latest statistics show that the US leads the world in lowering pollution. While pollution has been going up in Europe and Asia, it's been going down in the US. I'm all for lowering pollution and I wish other countries would do the same and quit blaming us for their own problems.

I guess this explains why the economy in the US is the best in the history of the world and most of Europe is going backwards towards the 19th century. Unfortunately, that's what socialism does to free countries.

Climate has sometimes been referred to as 'The Absent Issue' in respect of the Bush Administration's policies - is this what you're referring to?

The Administration now accepts global warming and climate change are realities although they have deferred taking action. I suspect this has more to do with the fact that in a year Bush will be out of office so he's leaving the problem for his successor to inherit.

The US has handled climate change very badly. It has alienated itself from many of it's allies and for many years stood isolated in the global community. The economy has taken a hammering as the Japenese and Europeans have moved in and supplied the global economy with the more environmentally friendly products they're demanding, this is perhaps most apparent in the auto industry; globally sales of GM, Ford etc have fallen whilst the sales of the more envoronmentally friendly Japanese and European models have surged ahead. The US has also missed out on many of the technological advances that have been made and is now importing this technology rather than exporting it.
