I have read some weight loss programs, and they recommend having whey protein before/during workout. Does this actually do anything?

Whey protein is the best natural gainer.
You have to drink it right after working out to repair muscle. (more muscle=faster metabolism)

The advantage of whey protein is that it is the most quickly absorbed of any type of dietary protein. This is important especially immediatly after a workout, in the hour following your training session it is especially important to provide your body with fast-acting protien.

Whey protein is also really cheap and convenient. $14 for a two pound container at walmart.

Whey protein is exactly what is sounds like. Protein.

It is the same protein you can get from chicken, beef, fish, etc.

People take whey protein to assist them in getting enough protein each day.
