I'm not sure where to post this, but I recently unearthed a Kako Auto-240ST GN24 hotshoe flash from my dad's old camera equipment. I tried it out on my 400d and it worked on manual mode. I haven't really tinkered with the settings because I can't find the flash manual. Thing is, there's no information (even in google) about the actual voltage of the flash and I've read that canon only accepts up to 250v max sync voltage. By any chance, does anyone know anything about Kako flash models? Thanks a lot.

Additional info:
It takes 4 1.5v AA Batteries
Series cut-off system
GN24
Has manual/auto settings

Check at photoethnography.com. There is a section devoted to Manuals for old and unusual equipment.

IMO you'd be better off buying the flash Canon sells for your camera. Its the trigger voltage that can damage your camera.

Your camera has TTL which is off-sensor flash metering but the flash has to be compatible.
