Jealousy--His winning of 4 Championships and 81 races in 14 years Of Cup driving has made a lot of other fans drivers win less. A Great number of Earnhardt Sr fans wanted Dale Sr. to win his 8th Championship and pass Petty. But Gordon won in 1995-97-98 and his Team mate Labonte won in 1996 this Kept Dale Sr from doing this. So the Dale Sr fans of which their are many ( Myself included) resented Gordon. Dale Sr died in 2001 and His Son Dale Jr. inherited a lot of his Dads fans so a wide Majority of Dale Jr fans do not like Gordon. Some other People have mentioned other reasons also. Plus when Jeff was in his early Years he would Thank God in his interviews all the time and I remember a bunch of People squealing about this also!!!!!!

...When I started watching races he would say things in his in car radio that changed the way I feel about him.

1) Once he started yelling "They are trying to wreck me, they are trying to wreck me, they are trying to wreck me". I learned then that he knew how to play the "fox" over the radio. It was like a plea for help from Nascar. Changed the way I thought about him.

2) Also a while back when Jr was at his closest chance of winning the championship he stated something like "If Jr wins the race t won't nobody even recognize anybody else". What he was talking about was Jr's popularity. It should not have mattered to Jeff. He should have just raced.

...That changed the way I felt about Jeff because of those cries for help that seemed to make Nascar tighten down on Dale Jr. That helped push me further away from Jeff Gordon.

...Jeff is a great driver and I am by no means bashing him. I'm just stating the facts. He has changed a lot in the last few years and I have come to accept him more. I'm sure everyone has their own reason but these are just a few of mine.

Jealousy. When Gordon arrived in the NASCAR circuit, Earnhardt was the man, winning races & championships then along come a California Kid & steals the spotlight away from Sr. Sr was great, but even though he won 7 championships, he didn't win any after Jeff joined NASCAR, didn't win as many races as Jeff did & when Jeff tied his total # of wins & when he passed him on all time win list, his fans were even more pissed. I respected Sr for his talent but wasn't a big fan of his.

One word sums it up "Success". For some reason in sports, everybody loves a underdog and nobody likes the winners. Case in point, Yankees! Because of their past success, they're a team to hate. Jeff is the Yankees of Nascar. 6 Championships under his belt before the age of 35. Incredible. And I'm a Rusty fan so not jumping on Jeff's bandwagon but giving credit where credit is do.

Actually, Frank- Gordon was born in Vallejo, CA and moved to Indiana as a teenager.

I like Gordon. I can see why people wouldn't. His team (HMS) is like the Yankees of NASCAR (and I don't like the Yankees). Also, he is not from the South, and not very old school. Also, some friends of mine here feel like the media pushes Gordon down their throats. There's also the jealousy factor. Gordon has 81 wins, which almost double the nearest active driver.

This Gordon fan has learned to accept it. I just smile when the 24 drives down Victory Lane.

Ain't no vengeance like winning!

You can't hate Jeff Gordon, he is one of the best of all time. It is okay to be a fan of a driver other than Jeff, no matter what some of his fans say.
It is a few J Gordon fans that get on my nerves. Not all of them, most of the racing fans I know are Gordon fans, and they are good friends of mine. The ones who make me want to hate Jeff Gordon are the ones who say I am bashing him when I call him "one of the greatest drivers of our time", rather than "the greatest driver of all times." They are the ones who call me a Jeff Gordon hater, if I say "he might not win at Texas."
So it isn't Jeff Gordon who I hate, it is just those thin-skinned fans who make me not like him.

It's funny, I actually enjoy hating Jeff Gordon. Which, in turn means I don't really hate him. I think he's kinda weaselly and thinks he's a pretty boy. But, he's a good guy and it's fun to make fun of him.

ahsoasho2u2-Jeff didn't challenge Earnhardt in 2001, Sr. died that year, in the very first race! Some respect, please!

The success Gordon is having is the success people thought Jr would have. Gordon wins races/championships and people hate him because he is the best driver in NASCAR right now and will down as one of the top 3 best drivers ever in NASCAR.

Because he's a great driver!! People will always bash drivers if theirs doesn't win. They were bashing him alot when he beat SR's record, sorry to say but he's obviously better. Just look at the records! Jeff is a nice guy, people will always have something to say!

Most people think he is a whiner.. He wins alot..too much for some people, Jeff is a very nice guy. I don't hate him,I do not hate any drivers...He's just not one of my favorites.. He does whine alot even he has said that...I just think people get tired of him always winning and winning and winning..He is a city guy, has a fancy place in New York, that doesn't go over well with the southern Nascar fans, so that has something to do with it as well..

Go Dale Jr.....win at Texas.
