Answer is, no one will ever know. The white beard old guy is just a stereotype. Take a look at modern religion-most dont portray the Gods they worship as pictures or paintings.

IF there is a god, he might look like a head of lettuce. We have no way to know. The man in god's image thing is backward-we like to imagine him like us. I'm not sure it makes any sense to think of a god with a gender either. Maybe, again, IF there is a god, maybe each life form across the galaxy thinks he looks like them. And maybe he shifts his shape so that all are correct.

that's how images we see(especially from childhood) brainwash us in a way that it makes us view things from a certain direction... which is what makes us prejudice against a lot of things, without us even being aware of it.
