The way i see it is Xbox360s are for Kids/young adults.
They should be able to afford the Xbox.... Add-ons are an option most can't seem to afford. Lots of kids singing in online games (Hate that crap)
PS3 is for Adults, buy 1 system and have everything in 1 hit... online players are or mature.
PS3 has my vote.... PS3 is always running very nicely when my 360 RROD for the 6th time.
PS3 also has FREE online play...

I'm sorry but, I'm a Sony fanboy and I have the PS3 and yes the PS3 is better. The PS3 has everything that you will ever need for gaming built in, and really the PS3 is cheaper than the Xbox 360.
By the time you buy batteries for Xbox 360 controllers for one year, you would have probably spent enough money to buy another PS3 controller, and the PS3 controller is rechargable.
The PS3 is more reliable than the Xbox 360, there are PS3 owners that leave their PS3's on for a day or more for the Folding@home project and after being on for days, the PS3 still doesn't overheat. With the Xbox 360, there's always that chance of the Red Ring of Death at any time.
The superiority of the PS3 to the Xbox 360 is is no assumption. The PS3 doesn't cost more money for no reason. Sony is losing money on the PS3 right now, the PS3 is the most powerful console and has the most potential. I think that the Xbox 360's full potential has already been seen.
Even though I'm a Sony gamer, I will admit that the only advantage that the Xbox 360 has now is more games, but that will change in 2008, and the PS3 has the most variety in it's exclusive game library, with the Xbox 360, the only good games seem to be shooters. To me, if you're a gamer that likes to play only sports games, shooters, and multiplayer games then the Xbox 360 is for you. But the PS3 is the best console for this console generation.

My answer is how much did you pay, and I think it's better on average for the consumer right now to wait for the Xbox360 Elite. PS3 is a great machine as far as video game systems go. It is also a disapointment. Focusing on the Cell w/o focusing on the total system performance is also very misleading by both salesman and PS3 fans. For example the PS3 isn't just a Cell but also an RSX( between an Nvidia GeForce 7700 &7800). Rambus main memory (XDR) is fast but it's only 256Mb's only. The Cell is said to be a 9 core, but technically a single CPU core w/ 7 stream processing cores, and 1 for redundancy. Video memory is only 700Mhz. The 360 Elite will come w/ 120Mb's of Hard Drive the ATI Xenos graphics processor can match the RSX, the 360 has 3 CPU cores and uses more than 256Mbs of main memory. the Xbox 360 still looks good when close up, the PS3 graphic quality looks poor on average when close up. The new Virtua Fighters background looks poor, while the characters look good. Pretty Much it depends on what you wan't, Because HD & XHD gaming can be done on CD & DVD, no Blu-ray or HDDVD required. There's so much to this subject it is hard to sum it up. Check out your Xbox 360 specs, you have a great machine. PS3 gaming may still get better in the future, but your 360 will still be far more superior than Nintendo Wii. I bet either way you will still have fun. I'm building a next gen PC which I can design a PS3 killer from the motherboard, & I've still considered buying an Xbox 360. Check out the few of many sources that I've left you. < I have more to say on the subject in my answer to "whats better Xbox 360 or PS3?">

THis ps3 is new then the 360 so the game have not gotten to the full power of the ps3. ps3 games are starting to pass 360 game. The new COD4 is going to be the game to get this holiday and its better on ps3. the ps3 has 18 players online and 360 has 16 player online. both the ps3 and 360 will support 4 players online at a time on 1 system. but for the ps3 all this is free and the 360 cost $50 a year.
the ps3 is a better deal. ok 20gb 360 vs 40gb ps3.
ps3 $400
40gb (easy to change to bigger and cheap then 360)
wireless
bluray
better looking game
free online
More varity of game
all equal to $400
360 $350
20gb
HD dvd = $200
wireless= $100
online aka live $50 a year
mainly shooter and losing all exculsive because most of the devolopers are going to EA(which is on both) or starting there own company .

PS3 is more for your money. Built for the future with better technology and design.
Sony didn't make the best selling console of all time on accident (PS2). They know what they are doing.
Playstation is the one that sets the trend where others follow. This I've noticed over their 3 generations of consoles. PSone made CD based games mainstream, PS2 introduced the DVD format. Now that the world is going Hi Def, Wireless, and online Sony made the PS3 with HD Blu Ray, wireless internet and gaming, bluetooth, etc. all built in.
Sony has decimated its competition with its longevity. PSone and PS2 didn't blow up the sales charts at the start but over time people see where the quality and innovation is.
The same will be with PS3 I believe. I've noticed at my place of work that 7 people have bought PS3's (4 of them were 360 owners) in the last 3 months. They all agree that the PS3 is better than their old 360's. A lot of people get defensive about what they own. Especially if it ends up being inferior. You have to own PS3 to appreciate all it does.
I like 360 and sopme of its games but all things taken into account PS3 is a much better system and has a brighter future.
Take care.

As far as sheer power, the PS3 kills it. The PS3 has uses the Cell Processor, which has 8 SPE's (cores) and one PPE. (6 SPE's are actually in use for in game processing, one is used for the OS, and the other is for redundancy)
-The xbox 360 has about half the power of the ps3 with the xenon processor (3 cores),and xenos GPU, which are about the same as a PC's architecture.
The PS3 also has the RSX, which pools it's RAM with the Cell, which really gives the ps3 power.
The PS3's games which have been released haven't eclipsed the xbox 360's graphics yet because the amazing games are still in development, such as Final Fantasy XIII.

I bought the XBOX 360 and returned it and got the PS3 cuz I found out that...
XBOX 360 failure rate is 33%.
PS3 failure rate is 2%.
Also all the stuff the PS3 has standard in pricing is cheaper then the 360 with all the accessories that are standard on the PS3.
So yes it is better in the long run.

PS3 is more powerful than 360. But what company is going to put the extra effort (and thus budget) into making games take advantage of that extra power, except for Sony? It makes more business sense to kep the graphics on PS3 at 360 level, so you can easily port and expand your market. That's why Xbox games that were on PS2 looked barely better than the PS2 version.
XBox 360 blows PS3 out of the water for game selection. And you don't buy a system to play the system. You buy a system to play the games. Which is why Wii rules them both.

Well, the ps3 is superior to the xbox 360, but I still pick the xbox 360 because it's fun and I like more games on it. The ps3 still has better features and technology, but too xpensive and not really all that fun. I bought a xbox 360 last week, and now i need to buy soem good games. All the choices...

NO.
google" xbox 360 and ps3 performance comparison".
On all websites searched, all of the reviews explain in detail that the Xbox 360 and ps3 are identical in performance BUT the xbox 360 has the better graphics overall.
The thing is the processor of the 360 is far more developer friendly. Therefore game developers MAKE THE BEST GAMES ON THE 360.. and because of that almost all multiplatform games of the ps3 are ported from the 360 version.
and in terms of online.. xbox live is far superior than the ps3 online. have you been on ps3 online? its like a deserted place compared to xbox live which has complete feautures.
My advice, JUST HAVE FUN.
Game consoles are made for fun.
Remember... historically not the most advanced game console has won.
just look at the 3DO,Sega Genesis,Saturn, and the first xbox.
they said they were the superior console of their generation.
In the end, its the GAMES that matter.
