What free to air channels are on TV in America?

I dont live in America so i just want to know. How many channels are there that you dont have to pay for anything? How much does pay TV cost?

Jedi Mind Tricks is correct...to answer your first question,there are eight over-the-air (our American term for 'free to air") broadcast networks:CBS,ABC,NBC,Fox,PBS,the CW,My Network TV and Ion.

CBS,ABC,NBC and Fox are called the Big Four (as they're the largest of the broadcast networks).

PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) operates like the BBC but relies on financial support from its viewers rather than government taxes and license fees.

The CW,My Network TV and Ion are smaller 'weblets' (so-called "mini-networks") and have fewer local affiliates than the Big Four and are not avaliable in all areas of the country.

All eight networks have local affiliates airing their programming across the country,with allowances within their schedules for local programming and the right to pre-empt network shows when they deem necessary.

In my area, with an antenna you can get ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX & a local channel out of St. Louis.

Cost of cable TV differs throughout the country. Depending on getting analog cable (non digital) which has different plans, each with a set # of channels, to digital cable, HD cable, & satellite. It could cost anywhere from approx. $35 to over $100 with the works.

abc, nbc, cbs, fox and public television. there is also a station broadcasted by the local college here. our extended cable plus internet connection are bundled at 60 dolars a month
