I've had this camera now for a while, having gotten it as a graduation gift. I always thought it was just being a normal Digital Camera and being annoyingly difficult to operate, but my Room Mate here in college has a Cyber shot as well and it seems to work better. I think it may be my settings, or is it something else entirely?
The pictures are always blurry, isn't it supposed to be a SteadyShot camera? I was at a Halloween Costume Contest last night, I was sitting in my chair and I'd snap a picture of people as they walked by, but even for walking it was incredibly blurry and like I had had a seizure while taking it, the blurs weren't just where they were walking, it was even like, the head in front of me. I'm not that shaky when I take a picture. I tried it on every single setting it had and nothing would fix it.
The other problem I have with it is when I take video, it wont record the sound. Sometimes it's incredibly dim and you can hear it through static.

It will play sound from video taken on my room mates camera, but the video it takes wont play sound on the computer. The pictures in the daylight tends to be better, but still at times incredibly blurry.
How would I change the things mentioned in the first answer?

Looking at the specs of the camera, it looks like a pretty good camera. The only reason I can think of why you are getting blurry pictures is that the lighting in your particular situations is not the greatest. The main reason for dark pictures is because the flash is not strong enough. Movement of the subjects does not help at all when lighting is poor. I noticed your camera has some manual settings.
What you could do is change the aperture to the widest. F5.2...in aperture priority. Mess around with shutter priority and make the shutter open longer.
How are your pictures outside in daylight? Also, can you play movies on your computer?
if your camera can't take videos or plays defective sound, I would return it if it's under warranty.

Blurry images could be a setting issues. Low ISO, a SCENE that optimizes for lens opening instead of shutter speed.
The video problem it a technical issue. There camera needs servicing.
