I usually try to give a funny answer even when it IS a serious question. Humor generally pulls us out of direct contact with a problem and allows us to see it from outside. It makes a distance from which to view the subject with greater clarity. Sort of like asking for frank comments from total strangers.

I was told by a fundie that "god" does not like jocularity, and that a person who prayed using Pig Latin was irritating "god" with his attempt at humor. So the fundies probably don't want to make that mistake.
