If the US was ever intent on totally destroying something by any means then one tool is the W88 at 475 kilotons. It would likely take one Trident D5.

Sorry but your question(?) does not make good sense. There is no logical reason for us to annihilate Puerto Rico. It is tantamount to saying how long would it take to destroy California. California even has a better chance.... Puert Rico has no Army.....No Navy.....No Air Force.....they have no arsenals....no high tech weapons.....

Beyond this.....not to pull a Clinton but..... what do you mean by "destroy'.....do you mean render it unable to effectively fight.....or turn it into a green glass parking lot?

The whole hypothetical is silly.
