My brother-in-law tried this for a while. Recenty a friend asked me about it and so I emailed my b-n-law for his feed back... this is what he said....
"To be honest, the drop shippers I tried did not work well for me. The profit margins were very small, at least for what I could competitively sell products for on eBay. It was not worth the time and effort and many times I ended up not selling items at an auction or in my store. As you know, the listing fees add up and since the products were not selling, I stopped using the drop shippers. Best thing I can say about it was it was a tax write off at the end of the year, due to my poor profits, and that is not a glowing recommendation.
If you want to get seriously involved in eBay, I would recommend trying a website called www.whatdoisell.com. I've never subscribed to her service, but I get the monthly newsletter and she has some good tips. Her service comes highyl recommended by one of the instructors at eBay University. Your sister and I attended an all day class in Houston several years ago. The classes are taught by people approved by eBay and the business course I took had some good information. The trainer I liked the best was Janelle Elms www.janelleelms.com. She has written a lot of books on how to run an eBay business.
My recommendation is to start by checking out whatdoisell.com and see if she can lead you or your friend in a direction that works and to try to find products that you are comfortable marketing. "
Hope this helps...

What dropship sites are you talking about? do you mean sites like the Internet Treasure Box, or other places that have pre-made sites and products for you? If that's the case, stay away and find a legitimate dropship source directory that has real businesses selling real products.
Here is a good place to start, Worldwide Brands:

I assume you are referring to that infomercial that shows people earning thousands from their home each month? I sent for their catalog and there is NO WAY anyone is going to pay those retail prices for that stuff. Plus the fact that it's all garbage trinkets.
