Word of mouth. If everyone just turned to their neighbor and said, "Psst! All that religion stuff is hokem, it's okay by me if you want to dump it!" in no time at all we'd be free. The worst part is how many people are chained to it by their upbringing, indoctrination, and family obligations. But the lack of relevance to our modern world is slowly eliminating this curse...

How do you think those humanitarian ways came about? Through the teachings of God. Man is the one who has distorted, twisted and corrupted humanitarian ways and I would NEVER rely on man's logic to get the job done.
And here we have, once again, a man's logic which makes no sense and is basically impossible because there will always be one man who wants to lord it over another man and be in charge. We've seen that over and over again in history as man tried to take control and we ended up in war because no one agreed with others.
Don't worry about those of us who believe in religion, take care of yourself and try to work peace and love with those you meet. If each of us would do that, religious or not, this world would be a much better place to live in.

First of all, you can't! That's the first lesson. Second, religion was put in place by somebody 'bigger' than you. His ways are not your ways, His thoughts not your thoughts, they are higher. You are the 'created'.....He is the Creator!
And if you knew the Creator God, you would be privileged to a higher teaching than you are now. And all this so-called 'double-talking' books would make sense to you.
You would also come to the realization that those people in the first century were real and smart and worth listening too. You'd find, if you were a student of religion and the times, that there is nothing 'hypocritical' about it at all!
So the way I see, dear one, is, you have a wonderful journey ahead of you 'if 'you choose to be informed and educated in the 'real world'. For, you see, just because you reject what you know nothing about, does not make it not 'real'.
........Instead of putting an end to religion,
....I think we should put an end to ignorance.

I had a prolonged argument with my significant other about whether gays should bother to try to join organized religion. She wondered why one would want to belong to a club that didn't want them and I countered that ,belonging ,was exactly what, perhaps, they lacked.
Yet, she made perhaps a point, that in my opinion answers your questions. Pursuing these groups and trying to sway their opinion simply empowers them. Perhaps it's best to simply ignore them and continue practicing our daily lives. In the case of gays, there are many spiritual paths that do not require enforced dogma.
Raising a furor over something gives it validity. As long as religion stays out of our public schools and reserved for its churches, let those who choose to believe whatever hootenany they care to.
As long as it doesn't oppress me, that's fine. As soon as it starts to get wacky with the state, we don't fight religion, we defend the state.
We don't fight "creationism". . We don't laugh at the idea of dinosaurs living with man in the Garden of Eden. We defend science. (And then we laugh quietly to ourselves)
We don't fight pro-life. We defend women.
We don't discuss homophobia. We defend equality.
And PAULO "Oh yeah, great idea.
Because we all know - a godless, amoral world where man was always free to pursue his own selfish desires, fleshly lusts and wicked schemes - would be SO much better." -- isn't that Corporate America? Your American dream? Capitalism?

How about letting people practice in peace??? Since when has there EVER been peace where religion is concerned?? My theory is that Religion is the work of Satan who is stronger than God, He has won because there are so many guillable people out there, fighting in the name of God. I know who God will redeem, and it's not all the people willing to kill in his name!!

as with anything else, education my friend, education. it is the only way...it all started with copernicus and gallileo around five hundred or so years ago and today, there are atheists walking around in the open, talking on the internet, running large companies and corporations, and are growing in number every single day across the globe. you want instant change i know...but it won't and can't happen that way. it has been tried many times and failed on every occasion. patience and perseverance is what is needed to win this battle of hearts and minds...

That must be the tolerance that I keep hearing atheist's tell me they have and that Christians don't have talking. The same tolerance that is born of humanitarianism and logic I would assume.

Actually, Micheal, The Bible book of Revelations, finishes the Bible Book of Daniel, that said. Micheal, will do battle with the serpent and win, the serpent will be tossed from heaven.
Micheal will rule as King. and sin, religion, sickness, and death will be done away with. And tears will never be seen again! All thanks to Micheal!

Religion provides people with comfort, moral guidance, and a sense of purpose. Nothing else can offer these things, so I think religion is here to stay.
